<p>I'm an international student very very very very liberal, and I've heard that Lafayette is kinda' conservative and I'm afraid it would not be the perfect vibe for me. Would I fit in? What's the social life like? Is there a lot to do in easton?(clubs, etc)
Are the students accepting(LGBT, african americans, intl, etc)?

<p>I can only speak for my son, but he is politically liberal and open-minded about lifestyles (he has a gay uncle who has visited him on campus), although S is personally conservative/traditional in his own lifestyle. He has some international friends and friends of other races at Laf. I would expect him to be open to friendships with students of any sexual orientation, etc., but have to admit I have not gotten specifics on that from him.</p>
<p>I think most of his social life is on campus. He enjoys going to the Farmers Market in Easton on Saturdays but does not tend to go there for the evenings unless his group is going out to eat at a restaurant for a special occasion. Easton is a “work in progress” IMO but the campus and town are working together to make Easton more appealing to the students.</p>
<p>I’m personally pretty liberal, but I’ve found that there are MANY people who are veeeery conservative. It’s because there are a lot of kids who come from well-off Republican families, and they are not afraid to express their views. There have been times that I’ve been slightly uncomfortable, but it all depends on who you’re friends with.</p>

<p>Yes, sorry if my post was misleading. Obviously there are liberals at Lafayette, as I am one of them. I have just found that going to a school where many of the students come from wealthy families, many of them are very conservative. That’s not to say you wouldn’t fit in, as out of a student body of 2500 there are many people who I’m sure share your views. I’m just saying I’ve felt that many of the people I know are very conservative and speak their minds, so to say.</p>
<p>very true. I have seen people who are really conservative and think like a complete redneck. But some people are really friendly and accepting. You just have to learn to choose whom to hang out with.
