I recently transferred from a private university as a fashion design major to Pratt Institute to pursue the same major. I originally thought Pratt was going to be a good step up from where I went before. So far, I have completed 2 semesters at my previous university, but only 18 out 32 credits transferred. This has been a big setback for me but I'm also coming to realize that what I'm getting out of the curriculum is nowhere near up to par with how much I'm paying for. Right now, I'm taking 18 credits at Pratt as a Freshman again and I really don't think I can keep affording to pay for the tuition without being in crippling debt by the end of the 4 years.

I've been thinking lately that I really should have gone to FIT from the start. After doing some research, I'm realizing FIT is a lot more intensive and practical for Fashion Design. It's also more than half the cost of what I'm paying for now. I know that I can get a lot more credits transferred to FIT in addition to the courses I'm taking now right now at Pratt.

I'm contemplating about completing my fall semester for now and then hopefully transferring to FIT in the spring of this coming year. However, I'm concerned with how this could potentially pan out in terms of how FIT and future employers would look at me if they were to see that I have already transferred from another school.

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated about the matter!
