I have a couple of marching band jackets from my high school that are both really comfortable. I paid pretty good money for them too, so I would hate to see good-quality jackets go to waste. However, they clearly have my high school’s logo printed on them and I was afraid it would be tacky in a college setting. I’m not particularly embarrassed and I’ll probably continue wearing them anyway, but I still feel like I’d look a little weird.
It’s not tacky (unless the jackets are!). Schools vary a lot as to how many people wear HS paraphernalia- you will work it out pretty quickly once you get there.
@Finasol it’s fine; I have seen a lot of HS shirts or jackets on college campuses.
not at all. i always wear my high school sweaters. i even have some from middle school but those are a little too large on me now so i avoid wearing them lol. i think it’d be pretty tacky of someone to judge someone for wearing a high school jacket, though. what’s the point? you do you.
High school letterman jackets are tacky to wear on college campuses since it seems like you’re bragging about past accomplishments. A normal jacket from high school isn’t a big deal.
I seriously have never paid attention to anything anyone was wearing unless it was outrageous (or adorable). A high school jacket would not even register in my consciousness.
So you pay 300 dollars for a letter jacket and wear one year?
@VickiSoCal Haha it wasn’t $300, but that’s exactly my point.
Also they’re not letterman jackets. One is a hoodie that has my school’s logo and “Marching Band” written underneath, and the other is a black jacket with a relatively small print of my school’s logo plus my name. But, I do come from a high school that’s well-known in my state (my marching band also has a notable reputation), so I just felt like it’d be tacky.
