Would it be too much to add an extra class?

5 units - Japanese 101 (MW)
3 units - Microeconomics (MW)
3 units - Intro to General Chemistry (not to be confused with general chemistry 1) (MW)
1 unit - Intro to General Chemistry Lab (T)
1 unit - Trigonometry Online Math Refresher (Online)
1 unit - College Algebra Online Math Refresher (Online)

Would it be too much to add a 3 unit Mythology (T) course?

I already have experience with Japanese (I know katakana & hiragana)
I've taken financial literacy before which I hear is slightly like Microeconomics? I read on Rate My Professor that this particular course isn't too difficult and I'm pretty good with graphs and grasping concepts and stuff.
Intro to Gen. Chem is with an unknown staff member, so I'm not sure what to expect there on the difficulty but I'm pretty good with science I'd say (Physics is my major).
I'm taking the Trig and College Alg. refreshers because I don't want to retake the Precalculus course and would rather just take a math challenge exam in order to take Calculus 1 during the Spring. (I looked at the practice exam online, and I would definitely need some tutoring to remember some of the stuff they're testing, some of which is new. So I think the refreshers would be great for me since I don't want to take a 5 unit repeat math class lol. Plus, that way I won't have to find a tutor and can just take the refresher to prepare me for that challenge exam. My high school precalc class did not prepare us well..) And btw, the math refreshers are only 6 weeks long.

The Mythology class would only be on Tuesdays and I read that the class is pretty much a "show up and read the assigned readings" kind of thing. I'm pretty interested in the subject, too. My weekly schedules would pretty much just be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Would 17 units be too much for my first semester of community college?

3 of those units would be 1-unit courses, 2 of which are online.. Is the lab like its own separate chem class? Any advice?

It sounds to me like you’d be plenty fine to add in the mythology course you want to take. You’re load is pretty light and sounds like it would be easy for you, so if you really want to take the extra course then you should!

I also want to add, though, and not to be rude, but as someone who studied Japanese in university I’m very surprised by how infrequently your Japanese class meets! Mine met MTuWTh when I was a freshman! I’m just curious about it meeting so seemingly infrequently and still being the same credit numbers as mine was. Are the classes really long the 2 times they meet? Just curious ^-^

Ah well my class meets from 8:35am to 11am so classtime is probably longer than the usual lol.

I was stressing out thinking that this would be too much but your words helped me! Thank you!

2.5 hours?! Ouch! Well good luck! And glad I could be of help!

Thanks lol. Just curious, how long were your intro Japanese courses? O:

MW were an hour and TuTh were 1.5 hours, so it equaled out to the same amount of time, just more spread out.

Ah I see. Thanks!

I think it would be very doable to add the mythology course. The two math refreshers shouldn’t take up a whole lot of time. The chemistry lab isn’t likely to involve any kind of out of class time. Some general chemistry labs require some kind of lab report, but general chemistry students typically aren’t expected to write real lab reports in my experience. The lab report generally gets filled out as you’re doing the lab.

Financial literacy might be slightly like microeconomics, but only very slightly. That seems like a bit of a strange comparison, honestly.

The mythology class sounds like it would be fun. I say go for it.
