Would it look bad to go back and get AA after getting BA?

I recently graduated form UCSD with a degree in History. I want a career in marketing, thus all my internships have been in marketing. Currently, I have a paid marketing internship 13/hour (not bad when i see a lot that are unpaid). Initially, I was part-time working 20 hours a week, but after 2 weeks they asked if I can work full-time hours, which I am currently doing. I am basically the marketing managers assistant, I do anything from working on lead development, SEO, website/social media management, creating press releases, CRM, data entry, planning/meeting with vendors, etc.

I am thinking of getting an associates degree. I know the best way to enhance my resume is to get an MBA/Masters, but financially that is not an option. I was just wondering if getting a AA in marketing or computer science (I think having better coding skills can only enhance a marketing career) would be looked down upon from potential employers. Will a certificate program from an extended learning site at a University be better?

It won’t help. You have a BA - that’s plenty of education for marketing. What you need is real work experience, which you are getting. The job will help you more than a second rate education ever would.

No need to specifically get an associates degree (good work experience should help you get future jobs, and/or admission to MBA school), though some people with bachelor’s or higher degrees take specific community college courses for personal interest or to gain additional skills. Though I’ve heard of people with bachelor’s or higher degrees taking so many personal interest courses at community colleges over many years that they “accidentally” eventually got an associates degree.

So keep working at your full time job. If you see courses at a community college that you are interested in, take them one at a time alongside your full time job.
