Would it look bad to transfer to a school just to be the president or vice president of a club? My college shares the SAME campus with another college and am thinking about transferring just for the title of "president of ____ club"....would it make that much of a difference when it comes time for me to transfer?

I can't be an officer of ____ club because I don't go to their college...

I agree with Andale. You can always write it on your apps if you really feel it will help that much; but in reality, most applicants will be the president of one, if not numerous clubs, so it cannot make or break your app.

Why can't you be "president of a club" at the place you're at now? Besides, don't people have to vote you in? What if someone else becomes the president? Nothing is for certain.

By the way, you don't need to be "president of a club" to show leadership capabilities. Pick a club you honestly like and stick with it. Passion of interest and commitment weigh heavier than being "president of a club".

President of a Club - I mean I guess it shows some leadership potential. But bear in mind that true leaders are architects - You would just be taking over the paperwork and organizational skills - that is management.

In your position I would attempt to marry both worlds and start a new club/group with connections to the local community - leadership, organization, research, and community involvement all in one (not that I suggest helping people should be done on a calculative self-serving basis under any circumstances...unless you're Dick Cheeney)

If this was a more prestigious college than we would expect more applicants to be presidents of numerous clubs. If it's any other college, probably not.

I can't be the president or any officer at all because the organization is not registered at my school...I can't really start one because there is nothing that has not been founded. Everything I am into, there already exists a club for it.

I lack leadership EC's......my only EC's are...(if these even qualify as EC's)

Being on MTV's True Life
Being featured on a DVD that accompanied a major release CD (sold at like Best Buy and stores like that)
Being in a band playing over 30 show's
Self Taught Drummer playing for 6 years
Self Taught Electronica Music Producer

I mean...as you can tell...I am no Matholympiad or whatever

I'm trying to build up EC's while still early in school with becoming part of 2 clubs I am into and getting an internship over the summer.

(Nice one Duper...Soro's would be into the Eastern European Restructuring Club...hahah...)

Those EC's are perfectly fine. Show a strong and consistent interest in music, shows initiative (self-taught).

I still don't get why you would transfer to be President of a Club. Some people think being president of some EC is important for college admissions (I don't). But if you are transferring, you will already have completed the admissions process. What point is there in worrying about being President of a Club after you transfer?

IMO, this will be nearly a non-factor for grad school admissions or job search.
