Would Maryland be a good fit for me? Chance me?

I'm a high school senior, OOS, and UMD seems to have what I'm looking for for my major!

I have an IEP for a learning disability. I need extended time for tests but I've always took honors/AP classes. My grades are A's and B's. The B's are mostly from handing things in late but I've gotten better. and I have a C+ in Freshman English and Algebra 2.
This year I'm striving for all A's and I'm only getting A's so far.
I might've done better if I had taken all regular courses but I wanted to challenge myself and I only got the IEP this year after struggling for so long. :(

I have a 1950 SAT and 100+ community service, and I'm in a few extracurriculars, including president of one club. My GPA right now is about a 3.2. A few more weighted courses should make that higher.

What state are you from? There are so many applicants from NJ and NY, that if one of those is your state of residence, it may be tough. What are your CR and M scores on SAT (since they don’t look at W)…

Pennsylvania.

I see freshman connection in your future…which wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world; kids love it!

I just googled freshman connection. I wouldn’t mind starting in the spring because maybe I could go to community college and get a few credits out of the way for a much cheaper price.

It seems like a lot of OOS go to UMD.

There is a limit for most public universities on the number of OOS students they take …as of Fall 2011, the percentage of OOS undergrads is 24% for UMD. Generally, OOS need higher stats than the average MD student to get in, and since the university is seeking diversity across the U.S., it appears that it’s hardest to get in from those states that have the highest number of applicants, which is NJ and NY.
