Would Michigan honors like a person like me?

Out of State
Asian male
3.75 Umich GPA
32 ACT

7 APs taken, mostly 5s and 4s
4 more to go
so 11 by graduation
Some academic extracurriculars

Probably not unless you convince them with an essay or something that you're pretty special.

You are borderline for the honors college.

That's a good Act score. What AP's have you taken and are going to take next year. What scores did you get in them. Also, post your Ec's. That is the best way to see what your chances are. Good job on the ACT though.

also, whats your class rank. Is your GPA weighted or unweighted because that makes a difference.

I'd say yes.

I would say yes also.

I dont mean to hijack ur thread.....but Alexandre...what do u think about 4.0/32ACT/instate/rank 1outta400 for honors?

I dont have a good feelin cuz honors scores range from 32-35....and that puts me on the bottom of the list..

you will make it def. Don't worry much about it.

I do not believe it makes a difference whether you are in-state or out-of-state Przfer. But given your 4.0 GPA and valedictorian standing, I'd say you have a good chance of getting into the honors college.

Is the honors college acceptance based solely on academics or do they reconsider the application as a whole?

...and I'm sure this has been asked before, but how critical is writing that extra essay?

I'd say he's pretty safe. Honestly, don't go to the Honors College. You'll save yourself a lot of time and ********.

You know....I've been hearing a lot about this essay...for the record, I never wrote one, and was never asked/required to write one. So I don't know what's up w/ that.

I had no essay either, and I just asked 6 honors students in my room if they had to fill out essays, and none of them did.
