Would resubmitting my Fasfa mess up my Financial Aid at UCLA?

I wanted to resubmit my fasfa and include my cc so that I can take classes over the summer there without having to pay. Im not sure if that would effect my UCLA Aid??

You’re not really resubmitting it. You’re just adding a school, which won’t change/ hurt anything with UCLA.

Edits are perfectly fine. It will only affect your aid if the income you report changes dramatically.

You had better call the financial aid office as many times the summer session is tacked onto the the previous year’s, and would not be part of your 2014 FAFSA (if UCLA is usual that way) award which would ordinarily start in Fall of 2014.

If this is the case for UCLA, that is, the summer term is part of the school year beginning in 2013, then its your 2013 FAFSA that is used for aid. If you already got aid up to your need and the annual limits as defined by EFC, you may not have anything left for the summer, unless UCLA gives some of their own money. So you should call the school and ask about this. First which FAFSA pertains to this summer, and whether there is any aid left.

He probably just wants to get the BOG waiver. All the CCs I’ve gone to have the summer session included in the previous year’s FAFSA. So if you already filed your 2013-2014 FAFSA, it should be covered under that.

@RamonaFalls yes I just want the BOG waiver, I had checked online and it said I owed money for summer session, so I figured I needed a new BOG waiver.

I called UCLA and they said it was fine that it wouldn’t change anything as long as I was not chaining any financial information. The fasfa gave me an option to use an IRS retrieval but I chose not to because I have no idea what that is.

just found this on my schools site

Fee Waiver applications must be renewed every academic year starting with the summer term. The waiver covers Summer (if enrolled), Fall, Winter, and Spring.

i guess my cc is different, oh well hopefully I can still get the fee waiver I submitted my fasfa correction earlier today.

Isn’t the BOG fee waiver separate from the FAFSA? Just last week, I submitted it to SMC and it was approved. I’m in the process of filing another for Golden West College, which is also separate from the FAFSA. It’s just a simple form, and they ask for your 2012-2013 w-2s, not your 2013-2014 w-2s (That’s for Fall 2014-Spring 2015).

Edit: SMC did not ask me for my w-2s, but I think that’s because I submitted an e-file with the irs, so they probably pulled my tax forms from it.

@Burntcorpse it is. But I actually dont qualify for BoG at all. However at my cc as long as you apply for fasfa they automatically give you the waiver.

What the…

Free tuition for anyone who applies for FAFSA? Which community college do you go to?

@Burntcorpse i know its bad! Elac lol

@sonic23

I wish I knew about this 3 years ago.

Elac is an awesome college, @sonic23. :D

That fee wavier is for ALL community colleges. Its called Board of Governors Fee Waiver, application is online and its easy. You actually dont need to apply for Fafsa to get it.
