Would the TOEFL test help my college admission?

I am currently a High school Junior. I am an american citizen, but was not born in America. English is not my native language. I have been living in the US for about five years now, but I am still learning the language.

My SAT score is low for my college lists (most are colleges in Boston, and some Ivy League. I take High Honors classes, and APs. I have a 4.4 GPA, top 5% ranked, and I am also very involved with club activities, sports, volunteering, as well as being an officer of the Student Council, and the National Honor Society.

I am a little confident with my involvement in school and in community as a student, but my SAT score is and will be a downer to my college admission. I am planning to take my second SAT later in June, but I was wondering if I can take the Toefl test along with the SAT. Should I take the TOEFL test since English is not my first language? WIll it have any impact at all on my college admission?

Thanks in advance!

Check the specific admissions policies at the places where you will apply. Some may require the TOEFL. If you do decide to take the TOEFL, pick up a prep book and do some practice. The types of questions are not the same as on the ACT or SAT. Get familiar with them before you take that test.

Get familiar with the test - some questions are very tricky (remember it’s also used for graduate students).
And plan for safeties and matches now you have all these dream schools on your list.
