Would this be a reach for Stanford EA?

UW GPA: 3.96
Rank: 5/497 (maybe 494, nothing important) @ SoCal Public School
SAT: 2050 (630 + 760 + 660)
ACT: 35 (36 Eng + 35 M + 34 R + 36 Science) (writing unknown atm)
Ethnicity: Asian-American (both parents have BS+)
I can speak Mandarin Chinese and English fluently.
SAT II Scores: Unknown (pretty sure i got 740+ on Math II and Biology though)

I know bragging chance threads may be annoying, but I don't see myself as one of those extremely industrious/talented students. My E.C.s are a bit lacking, so I was wondering if I am a reach for EA or fair chance at Stanford. My list is:
1) Stanford
2) UC Berkeley/UCLA
3) John Hopkins/Notre Dame

E.C.s:
Newspaper (3 years w/ 2 years editor)
Key Club (3 years w/ 2 years Secretary/Treasurer)
Speech and Debate (4 years in Public Policy, a few regional awards but nothing state/too impressive)
Volunteered at a local hospital for 200+ hours w/ 8 hours a week in junior year)
Marching band (3 years trumpet)

I am really lacking in awards and talents. I regret not participating in more contests and activities.

Sophomore: 1 AP w/ 3 Honors (most intense courseload in our school)
Junior: 4 APs
Senior: 4 APs

I have one semester of a B in my junior year. What are my chances for Stanford EA? I am applying EA for possibly a greater modicum of a chance. Am I too pessimistic, or should I be concerned? Chance at the other schools in list please.

My ACT was literally a life saver for me to be able to apply to higher schools.

I am planning to go into premed.

You should give it a try.

The fact that you are Asian-American hurts your chances, especially with a 2050 SAT. I would not submit that score. Give Stanford the better ACT score instead. Your EC’s are good, but will not tip you in. I think you need to really wow them with your essays and show how you will contribute to Stanford, and are the sort of person they want on campus.

Stanford wants all scores if you took both tests.

Actually, your ACT 35 is stellar which is equivalent to 2300+ on SAT…don’t worry about your SAT of 2050…Stanford will take your TOP scores on any of the exams and give you the benefit of the doubt…other than being Asian (which you cannot change…be proud)…if Stanford is your top choice I would apply REA especially if you are from California…because if you wait for RD…you will be competing with those who were bitterly deferred from Harvard, MIT, Yale, Princeton et al…they will be gunning for Stanford in the regular round…

…work on your essays and recommendations. Good luck!

Stanford is a reach for everyone. Just look at the decisions thread. At this point, the most you can do is write your essays to the best of your ability and hope that everything you’ve done up to this point is good enough

I know several people with worse objective stats than you and fewer activities (but amazing rec letters and essays) who got in. I do caution you that the essays are critical and if you think they aren’t the very best you can do, you should not apply REA. The essays are your one shot at this point.

I agree with leatherlibrarian. Essays and recs make or break applications to schools like Stanford.

I also agree with said235’s point that Stanford is a reach for everyone. Yes Stanford turns down 17 kids for every person it admits. But what’s even more supportive of my argument is the fact that for every person whom Stanford admits, it turns down 2 or 3 who are JUST AS GOOD. Just as good. Therefore, some luck factors into every acceptance.

I’d say Berkeley, UCLA, and Notre Dame are matches, though.
