Would this be considered a "family responsibility"?

I know there's a section in the drop down menu for extracurriculars on the Common App that says "family responsibilities."

My grandmother, late 80's, is deaf and has dementia(that's slowly progressing into a severe form). She's the active type, and not the sit back and relax type, so I often have to watch her(to make sure she doesn't do something like confuse her medications, or walk out of the house), and help her with her daily activities(like helping her eat). My grandmother lives with us, and my mother takes care of her during the day. But I probably pitch in about 7-10(sometimes more, sometimes less) hours a week keeping an eye on her or doing something related to taking care of her.

During my freshman and sophomore year, I had to help out a whole lot more(probably about 15-20 hours a week, due to family issues) needless to say, my grades suffered. I had to leave at 6:00am for school, and I didn't get home till 5:00pm(I have a 1.5 hour commute each way by public transportation), plus helping her out didn't leave much time, nor energy, to get school work done.

Would that be something that would be okay to put down in activities? Or could that hurt me in some way(prejudice, pity seeking perhaps)?

More background(if it helps): Relatively high achieving Senior in a very poorly preforming school district. First gen/pell eligible.

I would put that on your app. Why not? It seems to speak to who you are.
