Would this be off topic for UVA supplement essay?

<p>The prompt: What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?</p>

<p>Something that really interests me and makes me excited is education and some issues in education. I want to write about a speech I listened to about one of these issues....would that be off topic? I'm not sure if they are looking for something that can fit rigidly into art, music, science, math, or literature or if they were trying to encompass a broad range of fields and interests. Opinions?</p>

<p>I would think that as long as you explain how teaching is an art briefly that you should be fine. As I have said to others, I believe the University is looking more for your thought process than the literal/singular answer. Maybe Deanj could offer better insight on this question since so many have asked ones similar to this</p>

<p>I think it’s fine. These are starting points, not absolutes. My D has a cousin who is a UVA student. She wrote about a documentary she saw. She is attending now.</p>
