I just got the Clarkson University Leadership Award, which is awarded to high achieving students by clarkson in the hopes that they will take the 11k a year scholarship and go to clarkson. however, i am not interested in clarkson at all. Would it still be beneficial to put this award in my app under "academic honors" or will the colleges that i am applying to think that I am not as interested in their schools as i am in clarkson?

Don't list it.

I'm kind of in the same boat...I got a 5k/yr scholarship award to Wells College but I'm not even applying. I'd like to know if listing it is a bad thing because it's hard to get one of these college awards at my school and it's not my fault they didn't pay attention to the colleges of interest I listed.

don't list it; chances are, they'll probably think that you just want to fill up meaningless space on your application. As a general rule, only mention an award if it is not financially based because getting some "prestigious" monetary award is probably not going to help your college chances anyway. However, there are exceptions, but if it is a scholarship from a different college, definitely do not list it!
