would this hurt my chances?

I plan on majoring in computer science in college. The problem is, I didn't do so well in my ap computer science class in highschool. The only C I have ever gotten in highschool was in computer science, and I got a B in my other semester. If I were to apply as a computer science major, would my poor grade hurt my chances of getting in?

Most schools do not admit you based on major, so a C in computer science won’t hurt you more than a C anywhere else. At the schools that do admit you based on major, it might be a factor.

(Also, hopefully you’re confident that your C had nothing to do with finding the coursework difficult?)

What schools admit based on major? Can you give me some examples

The college of engineering at a lot of state schools accepts you into a specific major program; transfers to a different major are not guaranteed, and often highly competitive. For a specific example, Berkeley.

But don’t most top college have colleges of engineering? The only one I can think of that doesn’t is UCLA
