So I’m in my early years of highschool which is still decently far away from applying to college but I should still have some ideas of which to choose at this point right?
Either way I’ve been looking at colleges and I’ve found a ton that seem like good schools, so my question is, does applying to a lot of schools make you look bad to colleges? Or rather would that harm my chances of getting in?
How many applications you send does not matter to the schools. It may matter to you, though – how many apps can you stand to fill out? How many essays can you stand to write and edit?
Colleges usually are unaware of how many schools an applicant applied to (Although, if one is not careful in interviews, social media presence, or essays, they can find out). Generally it does not hurt you directly though.
Indirectly however, the quality of your essays may drop over time as you spend less time per school. Leading to a harmful effect on chances.
How many is a lot? Common App is limited to 20 schools, but these days a lot of students are applying to 10-15 anyway.
Thank you for the replies, I was just liking a lot so I wanted to know if considering a lot of them would in anyway hurt my chances
