Would this minor hurt law school chances?

I am considering minoring in Cinematic Arts as I have an interest in the subject. Would having the Cinematic Arts minor on my transcript hurt my chances of getting into law schools that are far from the most urban areas (LA, NY, etc.) and lack ties to the cinematic arts/ entertainment industry? Would those law schools think something along the lines of, "This applicant obviously wants to go into entertainment law, but since we aren't connected to that industry, it is better if we reject them"?

I do not plan on specializing in entertainment law as an attorney, so it would be quite a shame if I was rejected from top law schools just because of a minor that I am considering solely for my personal interests.

Thank you for your time.

An equivalent question would be “Would this minor hurt my GPA?” Your minor won’t really have any impact. Also, you don’t have to do the minor. You can just take the courses that interest you.

I can’t imagine circumstances in which a minor would hurt you. In fact, to the extent that your minor is something interesting like cinematic arts, and you utilize it in some way (writing articles for a school/local newspaper on a movie festival, for example), the minor may become a source for your personal statement in your law school application, or something interesting to discuss when you apply for jobs. Just a thought . . .

Thanks guys. I’ve actually decided against adding the Cinematic Arts minor for various reasons. I will still take a few of the school’s classes though.
