Yes, but you may be cutting off some college options by dropping Spanish in the spring in order to be able to play your sport.

Some of the very top schools want four years of a foreign language. You will only have two and a half. Even if you manage to schedule the second half of Spanish 3 during your senior year, you won't have the optimal four years.

To allow you to take a full year of Spanish, it might be better to take only the first half of the Web design course (unless you need it for a tech ed graduation requirement or something) or to postpone AP Art History until your senior year (and take some half-year course in the fall to substitute for it). Admittedly, dropping AP Art History would make your schedule look less rigorous. But having the optimum number of years of foreign language may be more important than overall rigor.

Is this a rigorous schedule for junior year?

Directed study is where you agree to study a topic not offered in the school with a teacher as long as the teacher and assistant principal approve. During directed study you complete numerous projects.

Why do people feel like they can ask US if their schedule is rigorous? Your application will be reviewed in the context of what your school offers (according to your school profile, which you can ask your guidance counselor to see). Therefore, the rigorousness of your schedule is RELATIVE to the options available at your school - it is not ABSOLUTE. We don't know what's offered at your school, so we can't tell you how rigorous it is.

If you really want an INFORMED opinion, either list every course your school offers and then tell us your schedule or skip all this and ask your guidance counselor.

asayedahmad08, don't hijack my thread, please, start your own . . .

also, Marian, my school is on a "block schedule," and that Spanish 3 you see is the equivalent of a full year spanish course, except it's only 1 semester here because the class is everyday (for 90 minutes). So I would have 3 years of spanish and would be able to take Spanish 4 next year if I wanted to. Is that realy important though? Some schools require 4 years of foreign language? I thought 2 was required for most (UCs), and 3 was recommended. That's why I chose to do Spanish 3 this year

I really have to disagree on you on how you claim "a lot of people" are a year ahead in science, math, and foreign language. Damn I'm really getting irritated by people here who assume everybody on here is a freakin' child prodigy.

Man, what is it with you people. Stop ****ing hijacking my thread! Glucose101, you have 3,866 posts (and I've seen you start several threads on the SAT preparation forum before...), so I take it you obviously know how to start your own thread? If not PM me and I will show you how. Cause this is riduculous.

Anyways, so should I also take Spanish 4 my senior year? I never knew foreign language had this much importance to colleges. I thought the core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, History) were more significant.

Take it if you want to. Do you like Spanish? Do you think it would be useful? Do you want to go to a competitive school? But if you really don't want to take it, that's fine too.

And foreign languages are considered core academics for college purposes.

Is this a rigorous schedule for senior year you guys??
