would you give up your #1 for 1/2mill and go to your last choice?

just to lighten things up, some fun random questions!

if you got accepted to your #1 choice for (undergrad) college, would you give it up for $500,000 to go to your last choice out of all the schools you applied to?

i would. your whole education is paid for! you don’t need to have jobs or anything. i’d ace the school and go to an awesome grad school.

and, if you could sell your acceptances, how much would you sell them for and or what would you sell them for? how much do you think people would be wiling to buy them from you for?

if you did not get accepted into your #1, how much would you be willing to spend or give to buy that acceptance?

haha imagine if people could put their acceptances on ebay…

Quite simply yes, it's only undergrad, and assuming you become an A student during that time, a top-tier grad school would easily be in reach.

Yes! Actually, UCMerced's bombarding me with mail about their College of Sciences or something like that... I have financial aid from them apparently, but if they gave me $500,000, yeah. I'll leave UCSD.

...Never imagined that coming out of my head.

It might depend on what my last choice was. After all, I could use some of the interest-bearing $500k to go to my first choice after graduating from my last choice. Or maybe just use some for graduate school or to get started in business.

BTW, do I have to use the $500k to pay for my "last choice" education?

well i just said "last choice" to make the offer more difficult. i guess think about it like this, like what j. project said, what school out of all that you have applied to, did you think you would never ever really go to?

No. Some college athletes who could make millions in NBA if they decided to go to college. You can't compete with the college expierence especially if it is of the first choice school where you think you fit.

Also -- hopefully 500,000 wont seem like alot when if I can get a good investment banking job

well i originally was gonna put 1mill, but i changed it to 500k to make it a bit more difficult to decide.

i'm sure it's more profitable for hot superstars, ie lebron james, kobe bryant, to go to the professional leagues versus going to college. but my msg is asking YOU CCers personally... i doubt there are any superstar athletes here, lol

No, I would not.

i so would...lol...itz all about the grad school

Uh, yeah. My last choice is probably Davis, and that's a good school.

of course i would...no doubt i would!

laguna: a true devotee to his #1

this thread also tests how deeply rooted you are to your #1 choice

Oh yeah, if that $500 is taxable income, it may only be worth $250k. I'm deeply rooted in disposable (spendable) income, net cash after taxes.

500,000k.. hell yeah. who needs Harvard or Yale?

for real. no question...show me the money.

NO WAY. It's not worth it. 500k is nothing

college, even undergrad, is a major investment in one's life
some people say "whatever college u go to, it doesnt reallyyy matter. it's your true skill and knowledge that counts"

--i disagree

i would definitely because its only undergrad.. plus u could save even more money by just going to community college and transferring into your #1 choice school for grad school

In a heartbeat. NC State isn't that bad - I could tolerate staring at bricks for four years in exchange for 500 grand.

adding....my last choice is not bad at all ;)

totally........!! considerin my first and last choice are both in singapore :p
