Would you guys be interested in a consolidated recommendations/buying guide thread?

My similar thread in the SAT forum as attracted quite a bit of interest! <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1153444-2080-2340-10-days-tell-me-what-you-want-know.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1153444-2080-2340-10-days-tell-me-what-you-want-know.html</a></p>

Anyway, I'd like to think that I know a bit about laptops and am good with helping people choose stuff, so let me know if you think that would be useful here!

And suggestions of points to cover, and how to format it would be great!

I was thinking:
a choose your own adventure style thread.
Do you like playing games? -> next question -> Will you be using the computer outside in the sun? -> etc, then at the end you tally up some points and it tells you which one to get?

It would be useful with all these threads about how to buy laptops. However, you’d have to have one for every single price category (probably in $100 increments). It seems like a lot of work when you factor in that people have a huge variety of personal preferences, like brand, screen size, weight, battery life, USB ports, backlit keyboards, etc. all on top of the hardware specs themselves. Additionally, it will probably go out of date within 6 months.

Sites like Newegg already have these guides where you can narrow down laptops based on specs and such. ([Newegg.com - Laptops, Notebooks, Cheap Laptops, HP Notebooks, Toshiba Laptops, Laptop, HP Laptop, Notebook Computers](<a href=“Are you a human?”>Are you a human?) go to Advanced tab under the “Narrow Results” column on the left). I think it would definitely be much easier to recommend specs and such through some thread, but not necessarily the laptop.

Edit: your thread has been removed, btw

No, please don’t.

*chan style and list recommended computers in an image, as well as other misc. stuff.
