Would you pick UCSD or UCLA?

Im having a hard time choosing between UCLA and UCSD, that is, if I get accepted. As some of you know I am an EE major, and UCLA is ranked higher in that area. But my concern is location....UCLA is located in a pretty busy area - Westwood. I don't know much about the area where UCSD is. I prefer quiet and academic environments. In terms of finances, both places are on the same level so that's not a big deal. If you had a choice between going to UCSD and UCLA, which one would you pick?

I would pick UCSD. I have never been to California but I would prefer going to San Diego over LA. I too prefer quieter enviroments.

I am a sophomore in UCSD and I chose UCSD over UCLA but the choice is totally yours...UCSD has a beautiful campus in La Jolla and is at a walking distance from the beach....If you prefer quiet and academic environments, UCSD should be your choice for sure.....

I would pick la but that just because I like the city but if you prefer a quiet place i would deff choose San Diego.

UCLA... The name and status will give you way more opportunities when you graduate and are looking for jobs.

UCLA, in my opinion. The campus is gorgeous. Plus, I found UCSD a tad bit boring.

UCLA if you care about social concerns. The difference in reputation might be important if you are planning on working far away from California or elsewhere in the world. Otherwise, UCSD obviously has a very good, and increasing, reputation.

I think I may choose UCSD even if I get into LA. I'm a bio major and from what I've heard and read, UCSD has a better program. I have yet to check the stats, but I've heard UCSD students have a higher med school acceptance rate than LA. Although I haven't gone out and checked for myself so I really don't know. It will be a hard decision either way, but I think I will be happy at either university.

I was just on UCSD's campus...it's awesome. I was very surprised at how many people were on campus as well. If you're planning on staying in the west than I'd choose UCSD. UCLA is going to have a better national reputation. And their campus is very nice as well. Hard choice. UCLA, better ranking. UCSD, smaller, nicer place to live. SD has so many things to do. Both educations are GREAT.

My community college is quiet enough. I'm ready for the crowd and noise! UCLA.

out of all of the uc's ucsd has the most students that are accepted to some form of grad school, med school, law school, etc.

^^ link to back that up?

As a current UCSD student, I have to categorically say DON'T GO TO UCSD. My main reasons are that (1) this place isn't very good for humanities majors, (2) social life is difficult to cultivate especially if you live off campus.

On the other hand, UCSD is pretty quiet compared to UCLA. UCSD is also pretty rigorous when it comes to academics. I would personally still pick UCLA, which is why I might go there this fall (berzerkly, don't fail me now!)

I got into both, but I don't know which one to choose, either.....

Major: Math/Econ

What do you guys think???

Hey, I'm weighing the same options as well. I'll be living off-campus and need a place where I can easily jog around the apartment complex for a quick 15 minutes (don't wanna have to drive to a track or something). I've never been to either LA or SD, so anyone knows if both places are suitable environments? For some reason, I'm visualizing LA as being full of traffic and dangerous intersections. I'll have to send in SIR before I even get the chance to scope these places.

ee_stu: UCLA is not in downtown LA...

haha, silly me.

I'd pick CUSLA

you can jog all over SD

i live here so i woul dknow, if your going to live close to campus , you can probably jog on the beach.

Yes, that's true. That means I can be less selective when looking for off-campus housing in SD.
