Would you pick UCSD or UCLA?

yea UCSD is cheaper in terms of housing OUTSIDE...but it has no guarantee on transfer housing...UCLA guarantees one year of housing

There's no housing for transfer students at UCSD until 2008. We'll all graduate by then, hopefully, lol.

I think I remember reading that it will be Summer 2009....but yea I don't understand why the hell UCSD doesn't accomdate to transfers...I think even UCB has transfer housing guarantee for a year

Same possition for me, i'm dying over here. UCLA OR UCSD ARHHH.
Major: International Studies

I'm thinking the name and sports is what UCLA got for it
UCSD area i like more, more relaxed chill and just hang out
UCLA more uptempo and stuff,
I've checked out both very quickly nothing indept, what you guys think?

go to UCLA IMO haha...

Shall we flip a coin? lol

Does anyone have a stats site comparing the two for grad school or med school acceptances.

Hey, I'm weighing the same options as well. I'll be living off-campus and need a place where I can easily jog around the apartment complex for a quick 15 minutes (don't wanna have to drive to a track or something). I've never been to either LA or SD, so anyone knows if both places are suitable environments? For some reason, I'm visualizing LA as being full of traffic and dangerous intersections. I'll have to send in SIR before I even get the chance to scope these places.

Westwood is a very nice place, and it's near Bervely Hills. Plus, you can take bus to Santa Monica! But the traffic is really bad though.

Bumper to bumper traffic during non-rush hours?

honestly the traffic's not that bad; there are definitely worse parts of LA traffic wise.

Bumper to bumper traffic during non-rush hours?

Bumper to bumper traffic starts at 6:30 am at 10 freeway, sucks! Horrible!

frankly why would I care about traffic? I ain't bringing a car there...haha. Plus public transportation is pretty good

True. I think I will be living in the library studying my a** off most of the time, lol. I hope I'll be able to have time to commit to weight training when I transfer.

You should definitely choose UCLA.
It is in a very beautiful and safe part of LA. Your college experience will be very well rounded and fun. The campus feels much more traditional than UCSD. I was so impressed with UCLA. Great traditions. Great campus. Plus, I think they have housing for more years and living near campus is easier than at UCSD. UCLA = amazing. You won't regret that choice. Excellent in every way.

ee_stu: I am trying to get into Westwood Chateau university apartment...I hear it has its own fitness room

too bad there are no chicks in EE lol

That's pretty cool. I'll rather use that than a crowded campus gym. Hopefully they have freeweights and not all machines. Let me know if you ever find out. I may change to on-campus housing then. I won't have time to go down there until August 12 when summer quarter ends.

Yea, and let's hope there are chicks in the few programming courses we might take. Hey, I just noticed CS 31/32 uses Java. That sucks, I took 4 quarters of C/C++ at my CCs.

wait I think it's not westwood chateau but glenrock West..o well

wow that sucks...I thought it was in C++....**** I haven't taken Java since HS....and then why the hell does UCLA have the equivalent course of CS 31 as C++ Programming in my CC?

cout > system.out.println()

I haven't taken Java at all! Even though I've been told the concepts are almost the same for most languages, I'll hate to have to learn the ins and outs of new syntaxes.

UCSD is an option for me......can I transfer with 36+ credits without summiting ACT/SAT?

no, you need at least 90 quarter uints or 60 semester units.. act/sat's aren't required for transfers.
