ee_stu: where did you get the Java thing from? here's a Winter 2006 CS 31 class which is taught in C++

from Flopsy:

"I agree with what BenedictChan said -- CS 31 is far removed from any equivalent introductory Computer Science courses taught at community colleges for two reasons: the element of competitition from curved grading is gone, and because they are increasingly teaching Java instead of C++, which is the language used in CS 31/32. Taking the course will probably increase your chances of acceptance, but you may have to retake CS 31 anyways if your course teaches Java."

Hey, you're right! I misread the above - Flopsy meant that CCs were using Java. This is good news for me.

yea java sucks

my friend chose SD over LA... he is a bio major, and he thinks that UCSD has a stronger bio department than LA... well, really depend on what you want... he said UCSD is kinda boring .... he got bored all the time...

yea bio is supposed to be stronger at UCSD....but I keep hearing the word "boring" associated with UCSD over and over again...I guess it's not a stereotype....one thing is guaranteed though....CHICKS ARE HOTTER AT UCLA!!!!

I think bio at UCSD is a no brainer. There are lots of job prospects in the San Diego's bio industry.

Hey Citan, that course syllabus looks quite reassuring. 25% gets A's and 35% gets B's...If only all courses will be structured like that.

well we will be taking CS 32...which should be considerably harder since it's mostly data structures....I guess I need to brush up on C++ this summer...
