No - admin offices know that at 740 is only 2 misses - write an amazing essay or volunteer somewhere. More up side than wasting 6 hours on a Saturday
@drkbaker , thanks for the advice!
Looking at your score and the thought of even retaking a 2300 tells me that you are aiming for top ranking schools right? Then I encourage you to retake it and bring that math up to a 780+, because a large portion of ppl who apply to the same schools as u will have that score, if not 800 (i mean, SAT math is super easy). Honestly, if you are getting into that competitive pool of brilliant kids, 740 isnt bad but it also doesnt look great either. Just take it one more time! Looking at ur scores, u have strong abilities and unless u have a bad day, u will do better.
@oripeco , I will consider your advice. Thank you for your input! Best of luck to wherever you’re going!
I mean unless you plan on applying to MIT or Cal-tech in some engineering field retaking the SAT for a higher math score is not worth it.
In the context of your proposed major, I would definitely re-take if you think you can up the math. Not only for college admissions, but I am aware of multiple business and tech-related jobs that ask for your SATs even 5 - 6 years out of High School.
I essentially did. I had a 2290 with a 690 in math, and a 690 is kinda low for engineering.
740 I might not bother retaking.
Just adding to correct @CT1417 in post #9 in case anyone uses this for research later. MIT’s spread is 740-800. http://web.mit.edu/ir/cds/2015/c.html I made sure to check MIT with Caltech since those seem to be the most math-centric schools.
@MAB222 got it. Thanks for your advice!
@bodangles , thanks so much for your advice!
