Hey so i applied RD to GW and i was wondering if your perspective major would impact your chances of being accepted. I picked history and then i pick psychology. I know these are like one of the most popular majors at GW so would it affect my application?

I dont think major would have that big of an impact, but it is a fact that acceptance rates and test scores/GPA range from school to school (CCAS, SEAS, ESIA etc). It seems SEAS has the highest test scores but also thigher than average acceptance. ESIA has average test scores and low acceptance.

All in all, its not really a big difference. Pick what you want to major in.

To answer your question, yes it will.

Schools (ESIA, CCAS, etc.) matter more than specific major within a school. Usually.

within a school, probably not. between schools, yes. school of public health and journalism have very low admit rates. columbian and elliott are both about 30%, though elliott has higher average SAT scores and GPAs. school of engineering is the easiest to get into.
nonetheless, if you apply to Columbian, it probably won’t make much of a difference if you choose philosophy or physics for example.
