wow i messed it up big time..

so i know that colleges like upward trends in GPA's...

but apparently, mine shows a downward trend...

it's not that i'm all of a sudden dumb or anything, and i rarely party/hangout/whatever

and they're not BIG changes, but basically it's like:

4.0 -> 3.9 -> 3.7

and yes, i have more and more ap/honors courses as the years go by, and BLAH i'm just getting really mad right now...

would colleges see this as a bad thing or what?

Your GPA is still great. And, because you've taken higher level courses, it makes sense that your grades would fall a bit because of this. (I am assuming this is all UW)

Well, my cum. is now officially a 3.88 UW,

but those are just the GPA's I've gotten at the end of the year each year...=[

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can't change the past. But definitely, it's better to do quite well on a challenging courseload rather than excellently on an easy one.

The cold honest truth is colleges dislike downward trends; however, your course load became increasingly difficult and that will definitely help them overlook the fact your GPA fell. But, it is important that you do well on your sats to not only make up for your falling gpa but to show it clearly was the courseload that was the reason for your falling GPA.

How does/did it affect your class rank?

If you have a 2200+ on your SAT that shouldn't matter too much. It just depends on the rest of your app. gl

well, of course my class rank doesn't jump too much,
but i still get fallen behind around 2 spots every time...=[

Many school still look for the 1st semester senior year grades. Take a hard courseload and make sure you can get good grades and it should offset the overall trend at least to some degree.
