homeschoolers get into great schools, and they take the GED. I’m not sure what colleges think of you when you only have a GED (and not a full transcript). Probably they would want to know what you were doing with your time. But if you were making good use of it (and if you had something to show for it, like awards, etc.) you probably wouldn’t need a transcript. If you showed you had a passion and were pursuing it, it would probably be okay not to have one.

Well, I’m planning to major in Math. Anyways, It’s likely my current english teacher will fail me. Instead of going to summer school I’m thinking of just getting a GED instead of a diploma. My four years of english requirement for the UC’s is met by my SAT writing score, and I can appeal successfully about the one D most likely.

If do get rescinded then I’ll just apply to schools again next year.

^ Unless you got the GED to go help stem cell research or help orphans in a third world country, I doubt that they would be too thrilled about it.

No I’m kidding

But yeah, if you had an extenuating circumstance then sure, if you did it just cause ‘It was too hard,’ then they won’t give a flying flip.

interestingly, i think most people it’s too hard for (and yet who are motivated to get a GED still, and so on) probably do have extenuating circumstances. They probably have diagnosable learning disorders, or depression, or something.

Alright so maybe people handle situations in different ways. What is done is done.
What matters now is that hopefully OP realizes his mistake and tries to make the most out of his life.

@enfieldacademy- Alot of homeschoolers don’t have to take the GED anymore. They make a professional transcript and diploma, and most colleges accept them, even the prestigious ones.

Of course, however, the OP is relying on the assumption that the only purpose of high school is to get a diploma. However, in reality, one also goes to high school to learn interesting things and ideas, and to have social interactions with others, along with other various additional purposes.

^^ Ideally, Yes high-school is place for learning, but in actual implementation, it’s mostly about teaching to pass the test. I wish high-school more about interesting things, and ideas rather than ******** i don’t care about. Language is pure B.S to me. I hate upper level math. I hate being required to take a foreign language. Social studies and science are good thought.

The social interactions are good thought. I won’t lie.
