WOW...omg..I need serious help

I shouldn't have ever took the ACT cold. First time taking it...and I got owned. I'm currently a junior and in all AP classes maintaining a GPA 4.2 unweighted (but I guess this all doesn't matter b/c of my AWFUL act score).

C:20
E:19 (OMG...)
M:21
R:21
S:19 (I got raped)

Writing score: 9/12 then combined w/ english is a 21.

Okay, this score really blows. Is there ANY good prep books that I could use that can help me prepare to get at least a 30 on the ACT?

b/c I have no prep books for the act, and I need help.

Get the red real ACT book and take multiple practice tests.

Did you answer all problems? It's not like the SATs where they deduct points for wrong answers.
You're a junior, you shouldn't sweat it too much. You still have 2-4 exams ahead of you... unless you're planning on applying to college in junior year. colleges won't see this act score if you don't send it to them.

I used the Real ACT book to study, but I would try PR too. And have some more practice on the act.org site.

im going to question the rigor of your school because a 4.2 GPA and a 20 ACT do not compare at all...

^^ Agreed with johnsmith3 that 20 ACT score doesn't correlate to the 4.2 GPA you mentioned having.

No, I'm serious, I have a cumulative GPA of 4.2 (I'm a junior)

My grades for this semester:

AP Lang and Comp: A
AP Stats: A-
H Pre Calc: A-
Acc Spanish III: A-
AP Physics: B+

and I got a 20 on my act.

wth?

I agree with your GPA and score not correlating...
21 is the national average, even doing it cold, I think you should have gotten a better score.

I did it cold and got a 26 and my GPA's barely a 3.5....

Ya, what kind of school do you go to. I took it cold in June after my sophomore year and got a 30 and I have a 4.0 unweighted because my school doesn't give a weighted GPA

They're not questioning your grades, but the rigor.

did you run out of time in all of the sections? timing is usually an issue with me for the reading and science sections. you've got to learn to pace yourself in a test like the ACT.

science was really difficult on the december act, but you've got to take advantage of the math, english, and reading sections. the vast majority of the math section goes up to only geometry (which you've probably already taken) with only a few questions on precalc. the english section is basically common knowledge that you should've learned by your junior year. reading is just based on speed and comprehension since you don't get a lot of time.

if you did freeze up, run out of time on sections, and/or forgot to guess on questions left blank, you're going to have to work your butt off to get the 30 you want. take multiple practice tests...
