You would choose a school based on a silly prefix? Huh.

Why would you say that the prefix is silly? I got admitted into UCLA's EE program and UCB's EECS program, whereas UCSD admitted me as a PRE-EE major. Why would I want to go to a school that does not accept me directly into my intended major?

It probably means you have to do one or two classes, and then you'll matriculate into the major. It's not worth choosing a different school if that was your dream school.

Yeah, but probably is not good enough for me since I'm firm on my major. In fact, I purposedly did not list an alternate major. And they still didn't admit me directly into EE even though I'm among the 6% of admitted transfer students with a 3.9+ gpa (according to last fall's stats)

EDIT: But one of the main reasons I'm attracted to UCSD is that I can have a blast frequenting their zoos on a weekly basis :)

Find out what pre-major means. I was admitted to pre-poli sci at UCLA, and it was just one class before I could declare the major. The odds that you won't get EE are probably incredibly low and not worth giving up on your dream school over.

USC has the BEST acceptance package. It is much much nicer than any UCs' ones.

Second best acceptance package would be from CAL and UCLA.
UCI acceptance package is nice too. Yeah, UCSD acceptance package is kind of oversimplified, still nice though.

Pre-major usually means that you just have to complete a couple of courses then matriculate. Of course, some majors are more impacted than others, but check first.

Hi. I am going to be transferring to UCSD this fall and I'm currently looking for a place to stay. Please PM if interested in either looking for an apartment or have a room available.

I think UCD does better than the other UC's. UCD admission package is kind of sucks, cuz you can find the same flyer from your cc's transfer center. However, I do like UCD, cuz they do more things after admission. They sent a lot of emails telling you to sign up for admitted student workshop and a lot of events. Also, the bio department of UCD sent another letter and flyer to introduce themselves.

I like UCD after these, but their financial aid is just too stingy.

I agree. I don't even think it had my name anywhere on it. Worst of all, my friend who did TAG, got an official answer from them only two weeks ago online.

someone on another thread said they got their acceptance letter to UCSD on a postcard lol they really do need to atleast write a nice letter or something, not a postcard....
