I’m from Massachusetts. I am at the top of my class at a wealthy, suburban high school. I am not applying to Brown, but it seems every single senior at my school thinks they can get into Brown. But they are all mediocre students and NOBODY has been accepted to Brown from my school in more than a decade. Students have, however, been rejected from Brown and accepted at Harvard, Penn, etc. Each year, we have about two students who actually get accepted to an Ivy.

I don’t understand what it is with Brown compared to other Ivy league schools.

Why does everyone fall in love with Brown and lose all sense of reality. Don’t they don’t realize they won’t get in?

I don't get what your point is. Brown has a higher acceptance rate than HYPMS, so it's not like anyone's chances are lower. Brown just looks for different things in an applicant than does Harvard or any other Ivy for that matter. And easy to fall in love with Brown. It's a great school at a great location with a great liberal atmosphere.

It's just that people think Brown is so easy to get into because of what you mention (higher acceptance rate than other Ivy's, etc.) But they forget it's an Ivy!!

People who apply to Yale say, "Well, it's Yale." But most people who apply to Brown think they are so so qualified to be accepted when they're not.

The acceptance rate for the current first year class at Brown was around 13% or less, when you include the recruited athletes and the Early Decision round. I don't know how anyone can think this is "so easy to get into."
