WPI vs Drexel

Hello, my name is Amy and I want to major in chemical engineering. I'm trying to decide between these two schools, I visited both and loved both campuses.

WPI:
~Would major in chemical engineering with a concentration in materials OR major in mechanical engineering if I wanted to change.
~Tuition and fees ~$58k
~Got a $10.5/year for 4 years merit scholarship and have $3400 this year for need base scholarships
~I have family in Worcester, mom knows the area well
~I would want to do the advanced bachelors/masters program to get both in 5 years or less

Drexel:
~Would major in chemical engineering OR materials science OR mechanical engineering
~Tuition and fees ~$68k
~Got many scholarships/awards adding up to $19k as of right now, did send an appeal
~None of this money is necessarily guaranteed, just money I can reapply for if I maintain a GPA, need, etc
~Don't know how many co ops I would do but I don't want to be in school forever getting a bachelors/masters
~I do like Philadelphia but I feel like the school isn't worth the 68k/year

If you guys have any data as to how many graduates get jobs within 6 months or so from these colleges that would be great too.

Thanks guys :)

@seniornerd The numbers for jobs/salaries are better for WPI. Try this… http://www.payscale.com/college-roi/full-list</a> WPI average starting salary is 62k vs 52k for Drexel. You can search for more information on outcomes on their respective websites. WPI has a stronger record for placement and is generally a notch above Drexel in most areas.

I am a Drexel alum in Materials Engineering. My D is a junior at WPI. My D applied to both schools, and she received significant merit money from both, but really liked the WPI vibe and campus much more. When we toured Drexel, we went to the Materials Engineering department, which still only graduates about 20 students per year, but the school itself is much larger than WPI. They have top notch facilities in Materials Science at Drexel. WPI also has state of the art facilities and faculty. Interestingly, the former head of the Materials Engineering Department at Drexel is now at WPI and does his research in nanomaterials.
My D absolutely loves everything about WPI. If I knew about WPI when I attended college in the stone ages, (I attended a small school in NJ, and the faculty focused on more regional colleges) I would have gone to WPI instead of Drexel.
