(Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this; I didn’t know where else to put it-)
I’m applying to CalArts BFA program, and they ask for an artist statement. I have no clue how to go about this, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips?
Thank you!
This seems to be geared more towards visual artists but might be helpful anyway. Basically, why you do theater, who influences or inspires you, what your process is like and what’s different about you. https://www.lightspacetime.com/newsletter/how-to-write-the-perfect-artist-statement/
The artistic statement is your chance to really talk about why you chose your art and what influences it. Not sure if you are applying for acting or technical, but CalArts looks for people who want to be artists. Things to think about: why do you want to be an artist? What has influenced your own artistic expression? Who are your role models? How do you see yourself as an artist in 5, 10, 20 years? My d is currently a BFA1 actor so if you have any other questions feel free to ask!
I PM’d you
