writing curve?

I had 1 writing section only with questions such as "becuase of the hilly terrain, the race was hard..." and a correction passage about success and failure, etc...

If it was easier, I dread the scale.

The Jan. multicple choice questions were definitely easier, but I think the jan. essay was harder.

I actually thought 4/1 writing overall was much easier than 1/28 writing. It might have been because I prepped a lot for 4/1 after my not-so-good 1/28 score, and it also might have been that, in my opinion, the 4/1 essay was a heckuva lot better than that stupid 1/28 essay. That put me in a good mood for the rest of the test.

Hehe, we may be heading for a historic 80 76 72 curve for april 1st writing...

That curve? I'm going to cry. :-(

What a jacked up curve . . . hah, I would be so mad. -0 = 80, -2 = 72!! The horror!

ugh.. I think I'd cry if that happened... or just laugh incessantly.

Technically speaking, a raw score of 49 (perfect MC) does not guarantee you an 80. (A 49 and 12 essay does, however, guarantee you an 800).

According to the scaling guide, the worst the curve can be is: 78 77 74 72 70 69 67.

Yes, that is a 78 for -0.

i dont get why i got a 790 (2 wrong MC, 12 on essay), and a friend got an 800 (perfect MC, 9 on essay)... what percent does the essay count for?

According to the curving scale, a 49 and a 8 is anywhere from 750-800, where a 46 and a 12 is anywhere from 740-800.

Thus, a 46 and a 12 is comparatively 10 points behind a 49 and an 8.

ah, ok. thanks!

The essay is supposed to count for 30% of the writing score.
