I’m a senior who is planning to play womens golf at college level (hopefully division I). I’m trying to write letters to the college coaches but I’m having some difficulty writing it.
How much I should mention about my academic achievements?.. or should I just concentrate on my atheletic achievements?
I would appreciate it if someone could give me a basic outline.

the coach probably has a lot to get through, and likely doesnt care too much about academics, i would make it short and include athletic things only

i assume you have to apply to the college anyway, and will include academic things then

Dear Mr. _____:

The enclosed resume details my academic standing and (sport) experience. I am currently a junior, with a GPA of ___ on a 4.0 scale, and taking college preparatory classes with an emphasis on (list core courses). The strength and variety of courses offered at (name of college) provide several degree plans of interest to me, although I have not yet decided on a specific major area of study.

More specifically, your (sport) program is of primary interest to me. I believe my skills and abilities would fit well into your program, and enable me to contribute to the success of the (team name) while continuing to develop my (sport) talents under your coaching.

Thank you for any consideration you can give me as a future (team name). Please send me information on your program, and any suggestions you may have on how best to prepare for attendance at (name of school) in the fall of (your graduation year).
Sincerely,

Most schools have a separate webpage for athletics. Visit this site and fill out the survey they have for potential recruits. The coach should then either email you or send you something. If you don't feel like you've sparked enough interest, I would send an additional email, then hopefully the coach will call you.
