Got an email saying:
"Hi [redacted],
If you’re thinking of applying to Northwestern Regular Decision, note that the only items due by midnight tonight, Jan. 1, are the Common Application itself and the application fee or approved fee waiver; you will have additional time (about ten days) to submit the NU Writing Supplement, your high school transcript, etc."
Anyone else? I’m a bit wary, though I could use that extra time.
They sent out the same/similar email for the Early Decision round so it’s legit.
Think it will have any bearing on application consideration? I trust they’ll look at/consider it for sure, but just a little scared they might view you as a less-committed/uninterested student depending on submission date.
NU is not a rolling admissions school, so do not worry!
They’re not going to dock the credibility of your application for summiting the supplement late because the school is still preparing for review, which is why they decided to extend the supplement deadline. NU also accepts January SATs so really they’re not really reviewing applications yet until the end of the month, so thats basically why they let applicants have a little more time for supplements. It’ll take until the end of January for the school to obtain everyone’s complete application (test scores, transcripts, possibly letters of rec) so right now they just want to have everyones basic information (the generic Common App part) locked in so they can begin organizing records to officially begin review.
Is this real? Can somebody else confirm?
The email is very much real, it’s from the Undergraduate Office of Admissions. Whether it affects the consideration of your application is the only question, and my impression is that it does not.
wait i never got this email. did only certain people get it?
May be, you already submitted everything already
I got it for the ED round, but I just submitted everything at once just to get it over with.
