For some reason I put down that my parents' highest level education was a professional doctorate. Neither of my parents has a professional doctorate. However, I think I may have put that down because I got confused and they both have graduate degrees, which wasn't an option. Is this a big deal, and how do I fix it? (This couldn't affect my chances, could it?) Thank you!

edit- looking back on my common app., I don't even see where I could have answered that question. Is it possible that they filled that in themselves? Thanks again.

billchso just explained where the info. came from. In your “common app” tab, click on family, parent 1 or parent 2, then degree received. There is a required pull-down tab to select the type of degree and year received.

Yes, I checked that. My parents’ say bachelor degrees and MBAs. I did not select doctorate anywhere, so I am curious whether this is UofM’s doing.

I have a similar problem. It has my parent’s highest education as “Less Than High School”. even though both of my parents went to High School (though my dad went out of the country).

Yeah, call up admissions at 734-764-7433. Have your application ID number handy, explain what the problem is and what you entered on your Common App, and see if they can change it on WA or at least make a note in your file for the adcoms to disregard the incorrect information.
