T-shirts? How do they know our size? o.O I hope I'm not stuck with an extra large or an extra small :-P

I'm getting excited too. I just hope I bring enough clothes.

Its odd that we don't need a calculator. I may bring one just incase we have to do "easy" math that could be done without one (like 225/5 or something), and I want to be lazy.

Yeah, 225/5 is something I haven't done by hand since about 5th grade.

About t-shirts: I just know the staff members have them, (I asked so I would know who to look for at the airport) and it kind of makes sense if we get t-shirts too, though I'm not sure if we do.

Bringing enough clothes...I know this is kind of late but I'm wondering how much luggage do you all have? I just have one suitcase, which was over 50lbs so I had to take away some stuff so I wouldn't get fined. lol. I do have a small duffle bad too though...but that's it.

i have one duffel bag but its pretty big plus a backpack. i think im bringing too much clothes though. oh well.

definitely bringing my calculator. im done for without my TI-83 Plus.

and in the email it said not to bring summer AP work. HA! i would die if i didnt start it. my calc is due august 1st. and i need to read 5 books while im there so i can write 3 essays when i come home (one in spanish).

Ha. I have a humongo (is that a word?...its probably not spelt right if it is) suitcase that's going to be over 50 pounds...but since I'm not flying that's not an issue. Ummm, I'm also just bringing my school backpack, which I may use to bring things like tennis balls and a soccer ball. Oh, and I bought a laundry basket (rectangular thing) and I'm carrying in my sheets and towel in that. Plus a fan. So basically I have 4 huge things to carry :-/ Atleast I am driving them all in, it sucks for the people flying. I'm basically brining as much as possible...which probably isn't a good thing.

Oh, and I may bring some AP work too. I have two essays to write (both should be relatively easy...in English and the other in Art History). I'm definately bringing my summer reading books.

Whew...I panicked when I first read what CMD wrote...thought I was bringing too much stuff...towels and bedding alone takes up a duffel bag for me. I'm bringing as much as possible too, lol.

But yeah, flying with all this stuff is a pain (and I BET my fan is going to be broken)...makes me wonder what going to college is going to be like.

i was in wtp once upon a time, so i can answer some of the more recent questions for you girls :p

my year we students got blue shirts and the staff got turqoise colored shirts. its a good thing to know if youre arriving by plane and have to find the staffperson, though they might have changed the colors since my year. they had boxes with lots of different sizes when i got there, so i think youll be ok with the sizes.

i dont remember being told not to bring ap work, but i also dont remember anyone really doing any major school work from home anyway. its not really the desired activity of choice when theres so much else to do :) summer reading is fine i think, i did do my summer reading, but if youre doing the homework in the program and exploring boston and enjoying yourselves :D, there will not and should not be time for lots of ap work from back home.

i might be able to answer any other quick questions before you leave if you have any.
hope you guys have fun, the program is amazing :)

THanks, engineeringhopeful. What year did you do WTP? By the way, I heard somewhere there are exams. Really? How difficult? Well, how difficult is the program, in general? I'm incredibly excited for it but a bit worried that I'll be the most idiotic, stupid person there...But I've heard often that it's fun so it should be good. :)

Wow we've made it 16 pages! Unfortunately I don't have any questions for old WTP students.

I went and bought a bunch (well not really a whole bunch...just like 3 things) of food...is anyone else bringing snacks? Don't forget recreational stuff (Soccer ball...frisbee)! See you all within a day!

krica- youre up pretty early , do you always get up before 7? i went to bed at 2 but i woke up and had to get up because i am so excited about tomorrow. are we still gonna workout together for soccer? if you do, we may have to get up this early to work out before classes. oye!

i got a box of cheerios and a big bag of animal crackers and a big thing of trail mix. i also want to bring a big case of poland springs because i despise spending like $4 a day on water.

before i said i just had one bag, i meant for clothes lol. i also will have to carry a fan, food, shower stuff, a box thing, pillow, and probably more.

and i will bring a soccer ball and a frisbee (which i got free from victorias secret lol).

Haha I was up so early today because I was planning on going to the beach...and we were going to leave at 7:30, but the weather sucks so we didnt go :-(

I'm still planning on running but I must admit that at the moment I'm not as in shape as I'd like to be...I've been doing more walking around lately (my friend and I walk to Dairy Queen) and I always end up deciding that I excercised enough (the walk is 3 miles). So now I'm not really that in shape. I may need to start at running 2 miles and working my way up. I guess if its cool enough I can run 3, but I tried running in the heat the other day and it didn't work out to well :-P

My food is: gum, ritz, chewy bars. haha

I'm going to bring a soccer ball too, and a frisbee if I can find one. I'll also try to bring some cones, so maybe we can set up a smaller game of soccer.

oh that sucks that you couldnt go to the beach. hmm the weathers beautiful here. you must live in a way different part of MA.

its ok we can get in shape together. ive been forcing myself to run but only around my neighborhood i think its like 2-3 miles. then sitting around either driving or at the computer for the rest of the day. like right now. yesterday i did hills with some abs but that was unusual for me although i should be doing more sprints than distance. well both, but, ugh i kinda dread workouts. if we go early enough in the morning it shouldnt be deadly hot.
gah im wicked exciteddddddd. mer.

Ack, I think I'm bringing WAY too much stuff. I just finished packing except for my clock because I do need to wake up tomorrow and I have a GIGANTIC suitcase plus one of those rolling suitcase things that many people bring as carry-on luggage - especially for business trips and stuff. Both are probably going to be checked in and then I have my gigantic purse. Ah well, the huge suitcase is full mostly because of my fan that takes up nearly a fourth of it.

i have 2 massive duffels with minimal space for anything else. one bag is clothes and shoes :-D, and the other is towels, linens, toiletries, and hairdryer/straightener. and im sure by the end i will be analyzing the cirucuitry and efficiency of my hairdryer, but i'm bringing it anyway. I have 5 books I need to read this summer, as well as extended essay, our senior project, (anyone in IB?), a huge philosophy presentation, and a project on rocket propulsion. o right, lets not forget COLLEGE APPS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

After wtp I'm spending 2 weeks with my grandpa so i'm probably gonna bring the work either way. if i massively bust my ass in august, then perhaps it might be downhill from there in the fall?

NOT LIKELY.

T minus 11 hours til I board the sweet sweet plane to BOSTON!

and i dont have any clothes to wear now. brilliant. oh too much stuff to bring but what if i dont have enough clothes? i dont know how to do laundry. is that bad? hmm im sure i can figure it out. my mom wanted to teach me but i told her the other girls there would know how to do it. so ill probably leave my house around 2:30 or 3:00 tomorrow for a MONTH AT MIT. crazzzzzy.

Actually it WAS nice out today where I live, a little overcast but not really disgusting or anything. The weatherman said bad stuff about thunderstorms and stuff when I watched TV at 6:45, and the Rhode Island (we were going to do a 1h45min drive) weather was even worse. I spent all day ****ed at the weatherman when it turned out to be decent outside.

But it kinda all worked out because I still went out to lunch with my friend and then we saw Click...which sadly enough made both of us cry b/c of its sadness :-P I really liked the movie...I thought it would be cheesy when I first went into the theatres, but I recommend it

CMD- you sound a lot more in shape than I am...but I promise I'll at least attempt to join you for the entire length of whatever you wish to do. I need to work on sprinting as well, but it may take me a while to build up to what you can do. The first day of preseason we have the 'naval fitness exam' which involves sprinting the long length of the soccer field in less than 20 seconds...and then we have a minute to get back to where we started. At the end of the minute we go again, and we need to do this 10 times. It really isn't bad if you're in shape, though I'm sure if I tried it now I wouldn't make it. And we're supposed to be able to run 3 miles in under 23 minutes....haha, maybe

Kk, I'm off to watch Lost...see you in a day.

I made brownies...and burned my finger. It's throbbing right now.

Is Click supposed to be sad? Hm...today some friends and I watched a few hours of Desperate Housewives, season 1. Now I'm a bit hooked.

I think I need to organize a running session for a bit over 1.5 miles...distance around my neighborhood. Lol, let's see us actually be motivated to carry through with all these plans.

Laundry: I learned how to work the machine three days ago.

Reaching-I'm not in IB, although it does sound a bit more...fun (this is the wrong word) than the regular system. College apps though....ugh. It's nice (making me feel special) of MIT to have an admissions session just for us.
