It’s weird that we still haven’t heard anything. Compared to the previous years, they should have notified us by now.
As I understand previous year timelines, by now some people would have received phone calls, but the email to everyone would not have gone out, right? So isn’t it possible that some people have received calls, but aren’t reading this thread?
There’s no one posting about being a finalist on Twitter, so it might be wishful thinking, but I don’t think anyone’s been notified yet. There’s also a chance that they aren’t calling people this year and are instead notifying everyone via the portal. I guess the next time we might hear something is this evening (approx. 5 PM CST).
Yeah I don’t think anyone has gotten a phone call because all the previous years at least some people posted that they were finalists. The chances that no one following this thread is a finalist are fairly low , based on previous years
Is it possible that it would be today? Since it hasn’t been over the President’s day weekend as per the norm in the last few years, it seems like it may be next week at worst

So I called and asked and they told me late February or early March and that they didn’t have a date fixed yet
@VaishS Well, at least there’s some info now, but it supports the later dates seen years ago. That’s a bit of a bummer still though.

@VaishS thx for the info. I DO think that some come out later like the writing scholarship I believe comes out Mid March. I think this was actually listed on the wash univ. scholarship site. Other scholarships did not appear to have notification dates listed on their website. Good luck to everyone. As for my S , not counting on it although would be nice. I imagine thousands apply and it appears only several hundred will become finalist. Somewhere i saw for the Danforth scholarships they said that over the yrs since its inception, over 35K applied and only 450 have become finalist. Odds are def. better getting into Wash Univ than getting one of these selective scholarships. As I told my S, Never hurts to apply but also good to be realistic about chances. if you don’t get it, its doesn’t mean you are not awesome and you still might get into Wash Univ RD. I think someone asked earlier on this thread about whether they look at just essays or also stand scores/gpa. I believe from looking at the wash univ scholarship website they will look at EVERYTHING including GPA, Stand scores, extracurr, recs and not just essays. That would make sense. They mention that the kind of student that gets these scholarships are usually at top of their classes and top scoring on SAT/ACT. GOOD LUCK TO ALL. So I called just now as well (I couldn’t resist haha) and when I asked if they had a rough estimate of when finalists will be notified I was told:
“Finalists are usually notified by late February or early March.”
The way he worded it to me, it sounded like a stock answer they give to everyone instead of an actual estimate. Basically, I got the vibe that it could be any time between now and then.
Fingers crossed for sooner rather than later! I’m getting more impatient every day…

The fact that what they said to me and what they said to @Amrfootball was the EXACT same it def makes it seem like a stock answer. Hopefully it’s earlier
