I was accepted to Georgetown in their EA program, and recently accepted to WUSTL (with a full finaid ride). I'm waiting to hear back from Georgetown as far as finaid goes, but I'm beliving it won't be DRASTICALLY different from what my EFC is. Also, I'm planning on majoring in Biology (pre-med)
The Problem:
I believe that WUSTL is a better fit for me. Coming from a small town (island) and not really having been exposed to much of what the "big wide world" has to offer, I'm not sure I could keep up with the people at Georgetown, at least socially. Especially if the sterotype of prepiness rings true.

However.
WUSTL is in, well.... Missouri(!!). That is extremely far away from everyone and everywhere I know. If it was in PA, or VA, or MD, I'd go there in a HEARTBEAT. But it's not. And location is a HUGE factor for me. So, location-wise, Georgetown has it going on. But in almost every other aspect, WUSTL beats it (at least for me)

I know I'm extremely lucky to have two wonderful opportunities to chose from. I just need some help being more objective.

Academically they are pretty much on-par.

ANY feed back, suggestions, comments, WHAT SO EVER, would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm missing something? Please let me know.

First of all, congratulations on your acceptance! I was accepted RD as well
I have visited both and WashU definitely had the better vibe for me. I don’t know much about Georgetown socially, but I know that you would have no problem fitting in at WashU! As for your major, WashU is typically seen as the (slightly) better pre-med school, but they are both very good and rigorous. My question to you is where do you feel at home? If location is very important to you, then go to Georgetown. Otherwise, I think going somewhere new and friendly (the midwest) will be very beneficial to you. St. Louis isn’t the best city in the world, but it’s fairly easy to get around with the metro. Also, ask yourself how often you would be coming home if you went to Georgetown vs. WashU and whether that makes a big difference. I hope everything works out for you!

Just to parrot what ND2017 has already contributed:

If location is that big a factor for you, then it certainly makes sense to prefer Georgetown. I probably wouldn’t worry about keeping up socially, because in either school you’ll find other students with values similar to yours.

If, however, you decide that geographic location is not that important (for whatever reason), then I would suggest that wustl might be the better option; mostly because the biggest difference between St. Louis and an east coast city is purely in terms of miles, not culture.

Honestly, I believe college should be making new friends and meeting new people. I don’t think coming all the way to missouri will prevent u from keeping in touch with your old friends and families.

@ND2017 & RyanMK-- thank you for your responses- I’ll be visiting WashU in two weeks for Celebration Weekend- and once I get my finaid from Georgetown my mom and I will decide if I should visit there as well. I’ve been going over it in my head for days now & I honestly believe that visiting is the only way I’ll really be able to make my decision. Thank you again for taking the time to give me your imput.

@Soundwave- It’s a little different for me, because I actually live on an island in the Caribbean- the only family I have in the states is my aunt in New Jersey. It’s not that I think going to Georgetown will somehow prevent me from going outside my normal bubble-- no matter WHERE I end up it’ll be extremely different from where I’ve grown up. It’s that I don’t want to find myself in Missouri and in desperate need of a family member-- who’s 15+ hours away by car.
