Hello!
I am currently a highschool sophomore, and I was looking into some summer programs to boost my future college resume as well as my research experience. After weeks and weeks of research, I found a free, awesome program called SRAP that has to do with the field i want to learn more about ( science and engineering). Due to the obscurity of the program, there isnt much information on it, and I was wondering how the program is and if it is prestigious. Although i believe that prestige isnt everything, i guess its a plus and would look better when im applying to colleges and stuff. Could you guys share with me how the program is for more insight? Also, if there are any other program that is relatively cheap and has to do with STEM/ reasearch, could you guys tell me more about it?
Don’t forget, im a sophomore! But programs pertaining to juniors and seniors area also welcome for future reference .
I guess some stats about me:
PSAT= 1350 ( 213 equivalent to the old PSAT)
UWGPA= 3.7
WGPA= 4.0
THANK YOU ALL!!!
Hi! I’m applying for SRAP this summer. I made a post about it a few months ago and @mavsfan responded with a thorough overview of the program.
Here’s the link to that post: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1828283-srap-wyoming.html#latest
I was rejected as a graduating senior with a 3.9 unweighted GPA, 2340 on the SAT, and six college math classes above AP Calculus BC. I wanted to do something related to math, but I think they focus more on biology.
thank you guys so much for the replies!
@Lbelle43 good luck with your applications!! Hopefully we’ll both make it and be able to meet this summer :)>-
@joshuakim11 thanks! Good luck to you, too!
@halcyonheather if you don’t mind answering, are you a URM or first gen college student? The program seems to be targeted at those groups so I was wondering if your chances might have been significantly lowered if you were not. I personally am neither, so I hope I still have any chance!
I’m white and neither of my parents has a bachelor’s degree (I’m not sure how they ask about first-generation status).
You can look on mysummeradvisor.com. There is an article on the homepage about research opportunities. You can also search for academic programs by subject. The most prestigious ones have early application deadlines, so make notes for next year. (Most are for juniors).
