Tody Microsoft announcend the price for the upcoming Xbox 360 in two offerings:

Standard-includes system+1 controller- $ 299.00

Bundle-includes system, 20 gig hard-drive, wireless controller, high-def cables, headset- $ 400.00.

I have mine already reserved at EBgames, although i am not sure which package i will select. There are supposed to be more of the 400 dollar version available, no announcement on date other than “holiday 2005”. Any one else going to get one/for their dorm etc. What do you think about the 400 dollar price tag.

the system is AMAZING I just received an advanced copy and it is freaking sweet. If you're wondering how I got one, my dad's firm is providing about $6.50 worth of semiconductor components for the 360 so they gave him an advanced version.

The release date is rumoured to be late November. It is imperative that Microsoft releases it before the Christmas season.

Pics or ban Mr. Bern...

if he has played it he is an idiot, he should of sold to on ebay or something a made a lot of money. he doesnt have it

I'm sure it would've probably been illegal or in a contract somewhere saying that he shouldn't sell it if it's a sneak preview from the inside.

And now that the full package is 400...I may just endure the wait for the PS3. That was my preference all along anyway.

Not sure if i believe that...

I doubt it has any games even if it's true, making it a $400 (subpar) dvd player for now

it's cool if you don't believe me...trust me americandad if i could have sold it I would have. I, like the other people who received one (about 10 people at the company - the corporate executive staff), were prohibited from selling it. the game they provided is a microsoft developed game called Perfect Dark Zero. I won't name the company as I believe the information on the deal has not been published publically although I have seen it on a few analyst reports (i think it might have been a lehman brothers report?). So I'm not sure but I can tell you they have about $6.50 worth of power management semiconductors in the 360s. Hopefully the 360 is a hit because that means more money for the company which means more money for the execs which means more money to pay for school!

Wouldn't that be Rare?

shrug
I don't see the point in the cheaper pack... one of the best things about the current Xbox is the hard drive, and if it's not coming as standard... then that's a bit stupid.
But $400 means it's gonna be about 400-450 euro here... that's prohibitively expensive. Means that if I get a 360, it's gonna be late in the console's lifespan when the price has dropped a lot. (I've done that this generation, had a GameCube early and only got an Xbox 2 months ago)
Put it this way: The games had better be damn good.

Perfect Dark Zero is Rare (they made the original Perfect for N64 XD)

Perfect Dark for N64 rocked :)

uvajoe I will pm it to you if you would like but I don't want to put it on a public forum. pm me and I'll discuss this with you.
