@Eiffel: Yes I do. It’s my guilty pleasure. ;D

Is it cool if I reign this thread back towards Avatar? Because I’m still not over how much I loved that movie. :(

I’ve never seen the Hangover. I feel lame.

I have SO many problems with Avatar. But the effects were pretty cool. Peter Jackson could remake LOTR now, but make everyone look like Gollum.

Hangover was funny but yeah, kind of over rated. I do think it was better than Superbad, though.

And Avatar was definitely not a perfect movie. I don’t really understand why I liked it so much-- maybe it just rubbed me the right way? I dunno. I came out getting more than I expected I suppose.

I haven’t seen Hangover, Superbad, OR Avatar. O_O

Also, Lacruset, what anime do you watch? :D

I will come hang out here if you guys promise to be more active and interesting than other unactive boring RD threads which are unactive and boring. Ok? Ok.

I’m actually really chill about college admissions these days for some reason. Back with Stanford, I lived in daily anticipation and anxiety. Now I’m totally chill. I think I’ll be happy wherever I end up. Probably because I don’t have any essays hanging over my head anymore, heh.

Have any of you guys got your financial aid stuff together yet? I’ve been trying, but my parents drag their butts whenever I try to get them to do anything.

Also… What exactly is Le Petit Prince about? I’ve heard it mentioned a lot by people I know, but I’ve never really bothered to look into it.

Hi! I’m a Yale hopeful from Utah planning to major in Physics and Astronomy. I’ve also applied to Caltech, Princeton, Rice, UNM (already accepted), NMSU, U of Arizona, U of Utah, and BYU.

What does the Philosophy and Physics degree involve?

aw le petit prince was wonderful not that challenging vocabulary and syntax wise those. we read l’etranger last year, that was much harder to understand

Awww I love le petit prince too! it’s so cute haha but also very profound.

the hangover was okay…funny at times but i wasn’t laughing the whole way through or anything like that. and i actually guessed the ending about 20 minutes into the movie haha but w/e. i liked knocked up better though :D

What is le petit prince about? I ran out of room in my schedule for French classes before we got far enough to start reading interesting things. :)

^^it’s about an aviator who meets a little prince from asteroid B612…and the little prince basically teaches you the greatest life lessons ever

^and its written in the most adorable prose! :D

Is that “The Stranger” by Camus? We read the English version in AP Lit. Interesting book.

^yup, that’s the one. it blew my mind. I totally disagree with that whole absurdist philosophy though…so bleakkk

Sartre>Camus…hands down.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery owns all

^ Indeed! I have to get back into the last chapters to refresh my mind before French IV starts next trimester. I entirely agree -past the syntax and vocab, it is just an amazing book!

have you guys read phantom of the opera? (by gaston leroux not andrew lloyd webber ;)) its wonderful.

For some reason, I’ve never liked French. I just don’t like the way the language sounds.
I really want to learn tons and tons of languages, like German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc… But not French. Weird. I’m not sure why it’s never appealed to me. Oh well.
Any languages you guys especially interested in learning?

^Whoa that’s interesting! I love how silky french sounds :] We were recently reading passages from Vol de Nuit by Saint-Exupery in my french class. Of course, not as light-hearted as Le Petit Prince!

What things didn’t you like about Avatar? I loved how gorgeous and detailed Pandora was, so I didn’t mind the predictable storyline and the cheesy lines. Innn fact, I was browsing The Art of Avatar book at the Yale bookstore :]

so, my financial aid estimate was apparently delayed AGAIN by yet another forgotten document (actually, an incorrectly filled-in bubble on tax form, i guess). sigh
