good luck yall! less than a month away. :)

^^ LOL@you username
You should have included the month too ;-)

I guess it doesn’t hurt that much when you have safeties…
Sometimes I envy those of you guys who have them:) I have no safeties because they don’t offer finaid for intl students:(
I’m trying to tell myself that if its meant to happent, then I’ll get in…)
Let’s hope that Yale will admit all of us CC Yale Hopefuls…:)

^^UK is not a bad place to study!

I know this doesn’t do you any good now, Ukrgirlie, but for future readers of this thread it should be noted that this isn’t entirely true.

What is true is that the schools that offer need-blind admissions consideration to international students are very few and, indeed, like Yale, very to extremely selective. There are eight that you find listed here: [Schools Awarding Need-blind International Financial Aid](http://internationalstudent.org/schools_awarding_aid/)

However that does not mean there aren’t other FA opportunities available to international students at less selective colleges. These opportunities would be available from schools that are need-aware with respect to international students but who will make offers to them knowing their need in advance. Here is non-comprehensive list of such schools: [Schools with Aid for International Undergraduates](Schools with Financial Aid for International Students - eduPASS). Many of these schools could count as academic “safeties” for a typical Yale applicant, but of course you would still be taking a chance of being rejected based on anticipated inability to pay.

Finally schools in your home country at which you can anticipate easy admission also qualify as “safeties”.

gary7 I’m not from UK:))) I’m from Ukraine:)
Descartesz Yes, you are right about schools in Ukraine, from now on I’ll count them as my safeties:)

Where is everybody???

We’re lurking.

my hopes for yale vanished when i got my deferral letter. i honestly don’t know a single person (from my area anyway) who was accepted to yale early. i don’t understand how they could defer 50% of their applicants. that numbers seems way too large.

Greaaattt. So after I got deferred from Yale EA, today I was waitlisted at Washington U. in St. Louis.

I feel like I won’t be getting in anywhere. :(

That’s not true! You’ll get in somewhere awesome. (We’re in the same boat, really.)

^ Agreed, guys! Just because one or even two schools reject you doesn’t say anything about you as an applicant. Maybe they just had an off day, maybe your essays didn’t appeal to that particular reader - you’ll never know. Keep your hopes up :D

Agreed tristan. Agreed.

What have you guys all done since your deferral? I sent them a letter updating on a new national award, a new class I’m taking a local very prestigious university, and a few community service projects I did that got me an award from a senator. Hopefully this will work out…come on Yale!!!

Nothing as special as that! I’ve gotten several poems published (one in a magazine based in Europe, which I’m really proud of) and am writing for a new newspaper, but that’s all.

Uhhh… i’m a national merit finalist now. does that count?

hey guys! is it true that they review the deferred applicants’ applications only in lat feb/early march? & if so - do you think they would be done by now? (scary!!)

^ Dunno if that’s true, but they’re probably wrapping it up. Scary!

I sent Yale a letter of continued interest with updates including raising $4,500+ for Haiti earthquake victims, winning another art award, plus some community service activities.

^yeah - i sent a letter of updates too - whend you send yours? (im wondering if i sent mine in too late for consideration)

^^drat, I should’ve waited to send my update letter. I sent a letter of continued interest in early January w/a scientific abstract, and I hadn’t really done much since getting my deferral anyways. Oh well.
