Yale 2015 SCEA Hopefuls

^Jersey13, could you answer my question from Post 198 as well?

^ Not certain, but I’m personally listing the extra scores in both sections.

Alright, I was thinking of doing the same. Thanks!

I sent an email to yale about reporting scores

they said it is fine to only list your best score combination on the common app as long as you OFFICIALLY REPORT all your scores.

I don’t know about the additional test score reporting area tho. maybe you should list everything there. other colleges wont see that anyway

I also emailed Yale. In their supplement, list all scores from all testing dates, incl. retakes. :)

I’m confused. The supplement says “Please do not repeat scores you reported in the Common Application.” ^Are you saying send all scores, including retakes, that couldn’t fit on the Common App?

Curious about having to to list retakes or not as well.

Ahh I can’t wait for Yale SCEA 2015 pledge thread to be created! Even if I don’t get in I bet it’ll be a lot of fun…

^^ Yes you have to list every single time you took the ACT/SAT. However, the supplement says that you should not repeat dates/scores you have already listed on the Common App so the only reason you should have ACT/SAT scores on the Yale supplement is if you have taken either or both of those tests four or more times.

Wait, I’m really confused now. On the CommonApp they only ask you to report the best score from each section (they can be from different dates or from the same date). I took the SAT Reasoning twice, so I listed my best score on the CommonApp. From what I see, it seems like I have to list my earlier, poorer score on the Yale supplement - but you just said that I’d only be listing SAT scores on the supplement if I took it more than four times. I only took it twice.

Did I misread your post?

Let me clarify what Yale emailed me. On the Common App, list your best scores. If you don’t have enough room for all your scores, list the additional ones in the Yale Supplement. These additional ones in the Yale Supplement are for ANY test that didn’t fit or wasn’t your best score so you couldn’t put it in the Common App. So basically ANY score that you got that you were unable or did not put on the main Common App.

why don’t you just shoot an email to the admissions office? It’s better to get an official clarification.

I have NO extra scores. Does that make me look bad? The Yale Supplement is easier than the Stanford one in my opinion though.

Also, what’s a reasonable length for the common app essay? Mine’s currently 694 words!

It’s beginning to hit me now. In around three months, we’ll (hopefully) know if we’re in! Wow. fingers crossed!

Oh, okay. So basically, Jersey15 was incorrect?

Yale’s FAQ says this:

Hi guys, I’m going for SCEA too! I LOVE Yale.

I’m an international student so I took 3 SAT II tests, which is normal here. But when I saw the intimidating list for addtional tests in Yale’s app I decided to take Lit too. I was scared by the curve and not sure of my capability, but it’s turned out to be the most fun test I’ve ever taken, even better than Micr econ.
Gotta thank Yale for helping me make up my mind.

About the Additional Testing section of Yale’s supplement:

In the common app, though, it says to put any scores you couldn’t fit in the Additional Information Section.

"If you still need more space, you may report the remaining scores in the Additional Information section. "

So then wouldn’t there basically be NO scores you couldn’t fit onto the common app?

@Spazzy, yes, that was my original inquiry. I think it would still be safe to put the scores you put in the additional info section of the Common App in the Additional Scores section of the Yale supplement as well.

Look at my post, #214. They’re saying that since you might not want to report certain scores for Score Choice schools, you can leave them off the Common App. Then put the rest on the Supplement.

At least that’s my take on it.

Oh, haha, my bad. I think I missed your post when I was skimming this thread. ^^ Thanks!

If I took 5 SATIIs and did poorly on 2 of them. Do I still have to report them when I just want Yale to look at the 3?
