Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

Yeah, obviously it would impact admissions haha I just meant in like significantly enough to help us in any shape or form at this time – I agree with qwerty after reading more though.

I wonder how they will faze in the new colleges. I mean will they just start with a year of freshman and so they will be alone in the college for one year or will they switch students out of the others? I do not think that they will increase our class size due to the upcoming new colleges.

On a side note, would you rather be in one of the established colleges and have traditions or be in the new college and get to start the traditions that will be followed for pretty much ever.

I know this will sound dorky, but will the singing bulldog always be there every time you log in if you get in?

I’ve read somewhere that on the top of the page it will say “Replay Intro” or something along those lines. And I think I would prefer being in one of the new colleges because the entire part of campus would be new, the facilities would be new, and I’d get to say I was among the first there haha But I guess these thoughts are better left alone until after next week.

The newest projections don’t have them opening until fall 2015, anyway, so it’s really a moot point for us.

Reading SCEA 2015 results makes me want to call Yale and tell them I was just kidding with the application. Not really, but it was a sobering experience nonetheless. One week. I have a scholar bowl competition on the 15th, and my best friend (who also applied SCEA) will also be in attendance. It’s going to be a long night, regardless of the result as I see no way that both of us will be admitted.

I also just looked at the 2015 SCEA results thread. So many deferrals. :(

From the harvard thread: [How High Schoolers Imagine the College Admissions Process - YouTube](<a href=“How High Schoolers Imagine the College Admissions Process - YouTube”>How High Schoolers Imagine the College Admissions Process - YouTube)

my friend just got into Columbia, and i want my results nowwww. ehhh so soon, but so far away!

Are there any other legacy applicants on here? My dad got a letter in the mail today (date on it was November 23) from Yale Undergraduate Admissions saying stuff like that they were happy to see that I had applied, that they would ensure to review my application carefully, etc. And it had a frequently asked questions page that stated that the legacy acceptance rate was about 20% while the regular rate was around 7%. I know they probably send something like this to all legacy kids who apply, but it made me really excited nonetheless!

frenchhornlove: I got that too, a few days ago. To be honest I wasn’t excited by the letter; in fact, I was almost annoyed. I’m being super cynical but it seems like they send that letter to save face and help smooth things over in case the legacy kid in question doesn’t get in. Wouldn’t want the parents to stop donating, after all…

i mean if youre that cynical maybe you should just rescind you application… Im just telling you because there are some people in my class with 2500’s on their SATs and 850’s on their subject tests. Theyre pretty unstoppable. Just wanted to give you a heads up on your competition.

The one thing I told myself I wouldn’t do after hitting submit was to read the past decision threads. Unfortunately, that’s all I’ve been doing recently -.-

^Argh, I totally feel you.

As the poet had it,

“I’m addicted to you
Don’t you know that you’re toxic?”

Lmao galavantian, the poet…

850 out of 800 eh?

One week left…but I’m oddly more peaceful. Maybe it’s the sleeping supplements I’ve been taking haha

I would feel extremely lucky to benefit from legacy, not annoyed…

On a related note: does anyone know if the bulldog appears AS SOON as you log in, or do you have to hit “your decision” or something…?

One of my friends got accepted into Columbia today, too.
I’m getting so restless, haha. I try not to show it during the day, but I’m thinking about this decision 24/7 right now -__-
