Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

I’ve been so anal about reviewing my application that I’m probably not going to send it until the last minute. Hopefully that’s not too big a deal xD

I submitted my app last night too. Good luck to everyone!
For reference, how long should I expect to wait before I hear about an alumni interview? How long does it usually take?

^ I’m wondering the same thing. A senior from my school last year never got an interview, and she was still accepted. Just a waiting game, I s’pose.

And a cruel waiting game it is!

How quickly can i expect to be sent an email regarding eli account? Want to make sure they got everything, i had to mail my counsellor stuff…

I submitted it today. yay…

I submitted last Wednesday and received the Eli Account info yesterday, so it was less than a week. But with the incoming traffic of people submitting today and tomorrow, it might be a little longer.

Sent from my Desire HD using CC App

All school forms will not be acknowledged until Nov. 15 at the earliest, so getting the login sooner won’t help you.

Submitted my app last night (or this morning, whatever you want to call it)! So relieved. Best of luck to everyone!!

I submitted on October 18th.
I got my Eli account info less than a week later, and I just got contacted for an interview today.
This is so exciting! (except kind of nervewracking too…)

wow you people are so lucky, it took 3 weeks for me to get that eli email (but maybe that’s because i sent in my app since oct) :s sighsss i’m really not expecting good news from yale come dec. ughh

December 15th has never been so far away!

I’m on the same boat as a lot of you - also submitted my app last minute on November 1st :O. Btw if we already had an on campus interview over the summer do we have to be at another one?

^^^

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/1228925-2nd-interview-alumni-interview.html?highlight=interview</a></p>

For those of you asking about interviews, search this forum and see a prior thread on this topic. As long as you don’t show up with an offensive T-shirt, you will be fine. No one is judging you based on your choice of blue jeans and a golf shirt vs. a suit and tie (I’ve seen both). If you are interviewing in someone’s law office it may be more dressy than your typical interview at Starbucks.

As stated many, many times in the past, the admit rate for students not interviewed is the same as the admit rate for interviewed students. You are at no categorical disadvantage if you are not interviewed. There are truly rare instances when the adcoms ask to have a particular person interviewed but by and large this is just a function of the adequacy of local interviewers to meet the demand. Even in some metropolitan areas, the region to the north may have a 100% interview rate while the region to the east may only interview 80%.

Fellow interviewers and I do so because we enjoy meeting with you. Try to relax and realize that most of your hard application work is already done and the interview is not a make or break part of the process for the overwhelming majority of applicants.

Submitted mine at 11:50PM on November 2nd… staying true to my last-minute ways.

Aah! Mixed feelings right now.

I remember that! That was the last round, wasn’t it? Very close debate haha.
Now hopefully, we both get into Yale :)

That would be pretty damn cool, we could be the ultimate teammates .D (but seriously, I have the feeling my chances are approaching zero -.-)
…and I still haven’t quite figured out how to trick CC forums into letting me quote the message in the reply (yes, “Quote message in reply?” box is ticked .D)

So anyways, now that we are all submitted, how about some more lighthearted chat? .)
I found the short takes pretty interesting! For example, what would you guys “ask the applicants that [Yale] has not?” .)

Meh…I thought it was creative.

That is really creative! Me? I said I would ask them something like their most valued moral. Just because that can tell a lot about a person. Truthfully, I don’t think there’s a wrong answer with these (: YAY

I asked them what their theme song is… Prolly pretty lame but I see my life in terms of music sometimes, so that was why I asked it.
