Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

clandarkfire- that is an awesome question, but where you able to fit it? I hated the word limit on these but I guess it was good because then they would all turn into essays haha.

I asked that if they had a genie lamp, what 3 wishes would they make and why? No wishing for more wishes.

My personal favorite was what moment in history you would witness. I said the moon landing firsthand. I hope they picked up on the firsthand part haha. And I said it was because I felt it was the last time that the world came together in sort of awe of american ingenuity.

Just a reminder, there are still regular decision applicants out there. (If you were concerned about the ease at which people can steal questions.)

:)

Though, I absolutely adore clandarkfire’s question!

I asked something like though the selection is random, which residential college would you want to be placed in and why? Kind of a stupid question but whatever haha

Haha, I have no idea, I’m using the CC iPhone app.
My question was-
Yalies have been known to play Bladder Ball, defying the ban. While Yale does not condone this, describe an instance when you broke the rules, and how you felt afterwards.

Just wondering how long it took on average for you guys to get your Eli Accounts?
I also just called the office to ensure guidance sent all of my things in by mail (they are next to good for nothing in my school) and admissions office just cut me off to tell me that they won’t be checking anything until Nov. 15th…o.O

I submitted my application a week ago - no Eli account information yet…
The website says within three weeks. I guess, considering the response of the adcom, we can just wait… :D

S2 submitted his app last Wed., 10/26. He received his Eli acct login Monday 10/31, and his interview appt on Thur. 11/3/11. I know the app was the last thing he needed to submit. All recs, test scores, and css profile were submitted earlier.

I turned in the online Common App and Yale supplement on Oct. 29. Still haven’t heard anything from Eli yet. Should I be worried? ://

The Yale website clearly states to allow for three weeks to receive Eli account info. Everyone needs to stop freaking out… :)

Haha sorry, just getting kinda anxious. A lot of the other schools I submitted my app to got back to me already. But I guess Yale has many more applicants, so it would take longer to process.

^
How did you apply to more than one school?
Isn’t Yale restricted early action?

^ Yeah, kinda .D
Maybe like…UK schools? (just guessing. So many people are have already received offers from UK unis and I heard nothing from those, so I feel anxious about that -.-)
But I mean…chill. As joanybologna above said, they’re not even doing much until Nov 15, so things may not be going at the speed of light. Be glad you can now be shock-free for some time ,D

Not necessarily UK schools. Some of my school apps for nontraditional schools (which don’t require common app) had regular decision deadlines that were super early -_-

^ Yale SCEA also allows you to apply EA to an in-state public school.

Has anyone been contacted for an alumni interview yet? When do people normally get contacted - specifically, international students? I submitted my app 3 weeks ago and have gotten nothing but my Eli account :(

So, my right arm is broken, i can only type with left one, let alone some normal writing…so, by Yale, by Yallies-to-be, I’ll go and screw up my grades in the next month and get kicked out of IB (hopefully an exaggeration, but i am sooooo scared that this may actually happen :’(( )

SemperFidelis, I’ve turned in some of my RD apps already too. Only applied early to Yale and state school though.

And JanaCZ, not to worry. I’m sure Yale/your IB program will understand. Maybe when you send in your mid-year report, add in a note about your broken arm? In any case, I hope you recover fast! :)

Yeah, I also just submitted an application to my public state school.

I’m holding off on sending in my RD apps though, just in case I want to change something during the next month or so… This next month is going to be the longest month ever, by the way. :</p>
