@neonerudite

@neonerudite haha i know who you are! congrats #qbfam
@MaybeHarvard2022 HAHA thanks man!!! Why do I feel like I know who you are too LOL just based off ur screen name!
“Yale College received the largest number of applications in its history this admissions cycle, with 35,305 high schoolers vying for a spot in the class of 2022.” (Yale Daily News) According to my quick math, if Yale admits around the same number of applicants as last year (2,272), the acceptance rate should be ~6.4% (overall). Considering 5,725 of these applications were submitted under the single-choice early action plan (and 842 were accepted), the regular decision acceptance rate should be ~4.8%. Anyone want to check my math? Best of luck to all, and congrats to likely letter recipients!
^Actually the rate will be a bit lower since you have to add back the deferred students from the SCEA round (about 3,153) in the denominator.
Yikes
What percentage of Deferred SCEA applicants have been accepted in the past few years?
@HamilFan roughly 2%
Thank you for pointing that out @BKSquared (deferred SCEA applicants being considered in the RD round completely slipped my mind). Accounting for deferred SCEA applicants in the RD round, the RD acceptance should be just below 4.4%.
Thank goodness I have a safety I love! #IRunWithThePack
me too. Only one that has not of yet ask me to interview
@MaybeHarvard2022 Where did you get the 2% number from? Yale seems pretty consistent on its claim that odds are approximately the same for deferrals as for the RD pool.
All this talk about likelies are getting me really nervous. Is the makeup of people accepted regular differ a lot from the people accepted during the early round though (ex: legacy, URM, athletes, etc.) or is it pretty much the same in each round?
^^ I have not seen official numbers on deferred applicants subsequently accepted for Yale. Logically I would think the rate is higher. These applicants already survived the first maybe even second and higher round cuts while 31% of EA applicants were rejected (or withdrew/did not complete their app). The AO is also on record that the SCEA round pool is generally more competitive than the RD pool. Therefore, the deferred candidates should be more competitive than the “average” RD applicant as thousands of RD applicants will be cut after the first read.
Hi guys I know this is a very insignificant question, but do accepted Yale students actually get t-shirts in the mail? And do likely letter recipients receive them as well? Sorry, I’m overly excited about this
^ Yes, Yale LL recipients also get the official Yale 2022 admit T-shirt as well. It should come one week after the LL.
I’ve been sitting at my mailbox waiting for my T-shirt to come in.
Yep I just got my t-shirt today (about a week after I was notified)!
Did anyone from Norcal receive the interview invitation?
