Yale 2023 Applicants Discussion

I am no expat, but I am applying SCEA from Europe - Norway - as an international student.

  1. Some high schools list all standardized tests on the transcript

My sonā€™s high school does this. Is that acceptable, at least for now, if he applied early action?

Itā€™s hard to say itā€™s acceptable or not. Your son should self report the scores using button update on the app.

Any Questbridge people here? Anyone get accepted with the matching program yesterday? (FYI, Iā€™m not QB, just curious)

Is this the first year with the new Dorms? Wondering if they will accept more people?

@notstuy, I believe the new residential colleges opened in 2017? I am not sure. Iā€™ve watched an interview regarding it and President Salovey said that they will accept more students annually due to the new residential colleges.

The new colleges opened in the Fall of 2017. Yale increased enrollment by about 200 beginning with the Class of 2021. The number of acceptances this year will likely be similar to last yearā€™s 2,229.

Got it, Iā€™m surprised its such a small increase in enrollment. Thank you!

Hey, I have applied SCEA. In an email from Yale (about testing), the admissions officer told me that I have a ā€œstrong recordā€ and that they would be able to make a ā€œswift decisionā€ as soon as they got my test scores. Is this indicative of an acceptance (or at least due consideration) or is this just the way they communicate with everyone? I know that itā€™s self-destructive to speculate, but I just canā€™t stop thinking about itā€¦

@popcorn454 that seems like pretty clear language to me, but donā€™t get your hopes up just in case. Can you tell us what happens December 14th

how are you guys preparing yourself for this decision? i need to tell myself that i wont get in so i dont expect anything

@popcorn454 that seems positive. Are you a recruited athlete?

@notstuy Not a recruited athlete. I am an international applicant from Norway. And I will make sure to inform you of my decision  @heyhowareYou2019

Was that a likely letter? Did you get an email directly from an admissions officer? Congratulations!

so Stanford just announced their EA decision date Dec 7th at 4pm. any firm date from Yale yet? at what time?

I believe Dec 14th

Dec. 14th, 5 p.m. Eastern time, I believe.

Did anyone receive an email about when Yale will release the result?

@idontcare333 Iā€™m telling myself the same thing and also I made a pros/cons list for all colleges I applied to, and I made sure to get excited about other less selective colleges. I made it to a point where Iā€™d be happy at Yale or my other choice, so the pressureā€™s off and I can just hope for the best. good luck,

^ @heyhowareYou2019 thatā€™s how my son is right now but I suspect heā€™s merely taxiing to his spot at this point. And liftoff will occur once heā€™s used the full runway. Beginning next week we buckle our seatbelts and prepare for a potentially bumpy ride!
