Yale 2023 Applicants Discussion

just watching marvelous mrs maisel and preparing for the deferral to hit me in the face…

We were planning at first to watch MMM but chose instead to drive around looking at Christmas and Chanukah lights. Were shocked to find we had to compete for good viewing spots with tour groups and stretch limos! LOL.

stanford releasing EA results on 12/7, and Cornell (I heard) is releasing them on 12/10…is there a chance Yale might also release them earlier than expected?

@dyosay2 I was wondering that too but I’m sure it’s wishful thinking. Yale has said that it would be the 14th since the beginning, and I doubt they will change that. We don’t have too much longer, though!!

Stanford is usually a little earlier for SCEA results. It doesn’t affect the other top schools.

Anyone have any guesses about the time they’re released on Friday?

@lemonlime13 - if you go to last year’s thread you can very likely figure that out from the posts.

@JBStillFlying or we could just let them know that it’ll probably be 5pm EST @lemonlime13

is anyone else nervous for yale rea?
Does anyone want to chance me: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/2114587-chance-me-for-a-dream-for-yale-rea.html#latest

@yaleivyleague you look like a really competitive applicant! fingers crossed and good luck this week!!

@dreamthief001 Thanks! Good luck to you too for this Friday and let me know how it goes!

Hey, I know this is kind of annoying but I’m nervous and I think this will help! Will you guys chance me?

I’m a white male, from UT
-3.75 out of 4.0 GPA
-32 ACT
-Student Government
-Cross Country and track all four years (XC Team Captain senior year)
-Went to National history competition two years
-orchestra for 8 years
-piano for 7 years
-Choir and musical productions for two years
-Attended Utah Boys State (civics and government conference)
-AP US History (5)
-AP US gov (currently)
-AP Stats (currently)
-concurrent enrollment math and English

I’m mostly wondering if my extracurriculars will help outweigh the fact that I have a lower GPA and ACT score

I applied SCEA. Any comments would be helpful! Thanks!

@benanderson1001 Your national recognitions are a strong point, they could outweight your GPA and ACT which are not that low. I think you do have a chance. Good luck!

Anyone else just losing their mind about this in school right now?

yup – majorly!! so nervous for friday

It’s so close guys

Been reading this thread silently in class all day, and I probably will be doing the same until 5 EST this Friday. I have been so nervous since last night, I wasn’t able to sleep !!! All of my friends are really excited and nervous for me and I’m scared I’m just going to disappoint them. Being probably the very first person from my school to apply to Yale, let alone the first to apply to an Ivy League in six years, they have high expectations for me, as we come from a school in rural Texas. Best of luck to everyone who applied SCEA !!!

best of luck @yungturd! feeling the same…friends and family expecting me to get in but trying so hard to stay realistic!

@redflamingo it’s so nice to see such supportive and like-minded people come together over a college decision!!! usually when it comes to such competitive things, people can be brutal, but I have not experienced anything near brutal on any of these forums

Just as a parent we are a little stressed. Can only imagine what the applicant kids go through. I bet you all the 6000 kids who applied scea will do well in life irrespective of what happens to their Yale application. It takes a lot of effort and hard work to even to get to scea application. The work ethic these kids learn from this process itself will make them successful what ever they end up doing. Good luck to all.
